Edith Pearl Mixon

1943 - 2023

Edith Pearl Mixon passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2023 surrounded by her loving family, at her residence in Sumrall, Mississippi, at the age of 79.  She was born on Thursday, October 7, 1943 in New Orleans, Louisiana, was raised in Delacroix-Caernarvon, resided in Violet, Louisiana until Hurricane Katrina, and resided in Sumrall, Mississippi. Pearl loved being with her sisters, especially going to the casino.  She was devoted to the Catholic Church.  She was involved with the church fairs, and she taught catechism at Our Lady of Lourdes.  She was a huge New Orleans Saints fan, enjoyed bird watching, gardening, spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and happiest when she was cooking for everyone during their visits.

Pearl is survived by her beloved family. Her devoted husband of 51 years, James B. “J.B.” Mixon; her adoring children, Gerald “Golden Boy” “Jerry” Arieux, Jr. (Jodi); Tammy Arieux Schell (Anthony); and Brandy Mixon Eddings (Nathan); sister, Bonnie Evans Soliz (Joseph); sisters-in-law, Cathy and Valeda; brother-in-law, Larry; grandchildren, Danielle, Casey, Jordan, Jenna, Chad, Gabriel, Amy, Paul, Bailey, Braden, and Brennan; greatgrandchildren, Kaden, Kylie, Kylie, Kolby, Bryson, Eliana, Brielle, and Hannah.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Odile and Frank Evans, Sr.; siblings, Frank Evans, Jr., Lucille Lopez, Helen Manzella, Bernice Brown and Angie Becker; brother-in-law, JR., sisters-in-law, Polly and Pat; and granddaughter, Kelli Schell.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2621 Colonial Blvd., Violet, Louisiana 70092 on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 12:00 pm.  The visitation will be held on Wednesday morning at the church from 10:00 am until the Mass begins at 12:00 pm.

Interment will follow in the mausoleum of St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, St. Bernard, Louisiana.
