Ed was the beloved husband of Pat (nee Dixon) for 62 wonderful years and a devoted father to Karen Rapone (Don Blough), Patti Edwards (Chris), Eileen Rapone, Laurie Smith (Harry), and the late Linda, Robbie, and Eddie. He was a proud and dedicated Pop-Pop to Brandon, Chelsea Heimer (Noah), Daria, Christopher, Ella, Owen, Max, Tommy, and Aly, and a loving Great-Pop to Maverick and Myles.
Ed was a cherished brother to Richard (Beth), George (Terri), David (Lorraine), Charlie (Dawn), and the late Patsy, and a dear brother-in-law to Jim (Ceil), Michael (Carol), Helen, Maureen (Dan), and the late Bill. He was also a committed uncle, cousin, friend, and coach to many.
Raised in the Frankford section of Philadelphia, Ed graduated from North Catholic High School in 1959. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Following his service, he worked for the Singer Sewing Company, Brinks Armored Trucks, and later retired from The Philadelphia Inquirer/Daily News.
A diehard Phillies and Eagles fan, Ed was an avid golfer who loved discovering a new golf course and making memories with family vacations to Walt Disney World. Above all else, Ed dedicated his life to his family. He was a true superfan, always front row, cheering on his grandchildren at every game, meet, concert, play, and milestone, never missing a moment that mattered.
