Edward Davis Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Edward Davis, of Media, announces his passing, on April 20th, at age 68. Born in Philadelphia to the late Edward J. and Frances Davis (nee Solecki), he was raised in Sharon Hill and graduated from Sharon Hill High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Marines and served in the Vietnam War 1967-1969. After his service, he worked as an electrician for PECO until his joyful retirement. His greatest accomplishments at PECO were the friendships he developed and the work he did to help form a union, later serving as a union steward to ensure fair and equal treatment in the workplace. Ed was most of all devoted to his family and enjoyed spending his time with them. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Linda Davis (nee Thomas), his three daughters Suzanne Arata (Ben), Jennifer Lynn Davis, Carolyn Davis-Pfeifer (Greg), and his beloved grandchildren Brittany, Gabriella, and Marissa. He was passionate about the Phillies and Eagles, calling all of his daughters the night of the Super Bowl to express his disbelief and excitement because he never thought he would see them win a championship in his lifetime. Ed was an animal whisperer who instilled his love of animals in his children. You would often find the neighborhood animals outside his home seeking his attention and treats. Relatives and Friends may call Friday April 27 from 10-10:45 am in the J. Nelson Rigby Funeral Home, 1 W. Baltimore Avenue Media. Memorial Service at 11 am, Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Healing Ajax, a foundation that helps veterans reintegrate into society. Our hope is to help others find the light in the darkness experienced by so many that serve for our country and fight for our freedom. Online condolences @jnelsonrigbyfh.com.

To the Davis family,

I am so sorry for your loss, I had the pleasure of working with Ed for a few years in Delaware county as Energy Technician's. He never hesitated to help any of us, especially me and the other younger guys that were new to the job. He was a stand up guy who knew his job inside and out. More importantly he was a genuine person and always managed to make you smile/laugh on the job. We who worked along side of him and those that will follow in the future are ever in his debt for his work with the company and helping bring the union into the company.

My deepest condolences to his entire family. RIP Ed.

Ed is my cousin. When we were growing up our families shared many a fun-filled day at their home in Sharon Hill. We always had a good time and the memories have never left. Some of the adventures (railroad tracks) were left untold; especially to the mom's. I'm really saddened by his loss. Ed was indeed an 'animal whisperer' starting at young age. During one visit he introduced me to the injured tortoise-shell cat he rescued and tended to. She went home with me that night and was a favored family member for many years. Thanks Ed, for the gift! I will always remember Ed and keep him and his family in my prayers.
