Obituary

EDWARD's Obituary

EDWARD SZEWCZYK, age 88. Announcement of the passing of Edward Szewczyk. Ed was a well renowned Mechanical Engineer who Graduated from Fenn College after serving in the Army for 2 years. He met and married his wife Mirta in 1966 and they started a family together. He went on to have a rewarding career in Engineering, and he was admired by his peers and family alike for his many accomplishments and "One of a kind" Engineering feats that benefitted the companies he worked for. He established new standards in Engineering excellence in the field of Manufacturing. He was listed in the Ohio Professional Engineers and maintained his license after his retirement. He started his career at Terex, then worked for General Motors for 20 plus years, after retiring he decided to go back to work for Voss Industries where his abilities shined for several more years. He retired from Voss Industries and lived a quiet life with his family and friends. 

He has now passed on from this life to be reunited with his daughter Ashley, who passed away in 2013. He is survived by his wife Mirta (nee Genzelis); father of Gary (Estrella) and Craig (Gisela); grandfather of Aiden, Ethan, Nolan and Sydney; brother of Chris, Carol Chronister, Steffie Porochonski, Sophie Birkus, Bill and the late Anthony Malysa, Stanley Malysa and Angie Pratnicki; uncle and friend of many. 

Passed away November 17, 2025. Funeral Mass Saturday, Novermber 22, Holy Trinity Church (33601 Detroit Rd.) at 10:00 AM. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of NORTH OLMSTED, 29150 LORAIN RD. AT STEARNS FRIDAY 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Berea Animal Rescue Friends, P.O. Box 544 Berea, Ohio 444017 or to the Northeast Ohio SPCA, 9555 Brookpark Rd. Parma, Ohio 44129 would be appreciated.
