Edwin Charles (Chuck) Zuerner, Jr., age 72, was called home to his Lord and Savior on July 4, 2024. Chuck is survived by his wife, Grace Stout Zuerner; his children, Jennifer (Chad) Becker, Andrew (Kelly) Zuerner, Mark (Sara) Zuerner, and Elizabeth Kushnereit; his stepdaughters, Emily Reinhart and Hanna Reinhart; 14 grandchildren whom he absolutely adored; his siblings, Doug Zuerner, Bob (Debbie) Zuerner, David (Linda) Zuerner, and Debbie Zuerner; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin “Bud” Zuerner and Bunny Zuerner.
Born December 11, 1951, Chuck excelled in academics and sports at Daviess County High School in Owensboro, KY. He played baseball at Centre College in Danville, KY, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, and his Master’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of North Dakota. He had a long career before retirement at US Ecology as General Manager, and Nalco Chemical Company. He holds a variety of patents in his industry. Chuck also served several years with the Greater Romulus Chamber of Commerce.
A lover of all things Christmas, Chuck could usually be found humming his favorite carol or watching a Hallmark movie. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and a good “dad” joke. Chuck was always happiest with Grace by his side. The two enjoyed their retirement with long road trips, purposely detouring to see beloved family and friends along the way. He was a proud grandfather who enjoyed talking and passing down his valuable advice.
A scientist through and through, Chuck was an active participant in a variety of cutting-edge treatments for his prostate cancer, which ultimately gave him the precious gift of more time. Those so inclined are invited to make donations to the Prostate Cancer Foundation
Visitation will be held Friday, July 12, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and Saturday, July 13, from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. There will be a funeral service on Saturday at 12:30 pm and a luncheon immediately after. All services will be hosted at the Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home at 5929 South Main Street in Clarkston, MI.

I grieve this lost, but rejoice knowing Chuck is with his saviour Jesus Christ. I am thankful that we reconnected a couple of years ago sharing text messages. Chuck even agreed to call one of our mutual friends who was dealing with prostate cancer also. Our friend died shortly thereafter, but received Christ before his death. I truly believe Chuck played a role in his decision and now are reunited in Heaven. Well done good and faithful servant.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Chuck's passing. He was a remarkable individual with a profound appreciate for life! Despite his battle with prostate cancer, he approached his circumstances with a resolute commitment to contribute to finding a cure. Chuck's unwavering optimism was truly inspirational, I will fondly remember his infectious smile, our engaging conversations, and the captivating stories he shared. We lost a wonderful man way too soon! May he rest in peace, and may Grace, his children, his family, and all his friends find peace knowing he is no longer suffering and will continue to guide all of us through this journey we call life!

Bob, sorry to hear of your brother's death. Brothers are special. One minute they be in each others face, the next they"re defending each other. But brothers are special. I lost my brother 23 yeras ago and i still miss him. Just know that Jesus is his brother too and he's in good hands.

It’s a sad day to say goodbye to a good friend and workmate. God bless Chuck.
Chuck and I have worked together for over 30 years at four operations in Michigan and Ohio. Chuck was a bright, inventive individual always eager to wrestle with chemicals. He was particularly astute with hazardous materials
Chuck and I have drained many beers over the years. He was always a positive and upbeat individual ready to tackle any issue. Chuck, face south and have one for me.
