Elaine M. Kane, age 82, of Derby, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026. She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Kane.
Elaine had an extensive career at Yale University working with oncology and ms clinics.
She enjoyed traveling and took many trips cross country with her husband stopping to visit friends and family along the way. Elaine loved to cook but her real pleasure was in baking. Holidays would often find her table surfaces covered with delicious baked goods- enough to share with family and friends. She always tweaked recipes to make something unique and once she knew your favorite, she was sure to make it for you!
Elaine's smile was larger than life with a heart to match. Her personality lit up any room. She was quick to laugh, was adventurous, and was always silly. She was accepting of others in such a way that once meeting her people were instantly drawn to her beautiful nature and would never forget her beautiful smile.
Elaine was fiercely protective of her family and friends. We were lucky to have this amazing warrior to stand beside us. Her positive attitude in all situations is a great lesson to us all. Love you bunches, Mom.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Kane of Meriden, and her son Thomas J. Kane Jr. of Derby, her brother Anthony Massaro Jr (Frances Esposito) of Hamden as well as her partner in all things silly her cousin Rae (DeCaprio) (Charles) Moran of East Haven along with nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony, and Anna (Castellani) Massaro.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Monday April 6, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Tuesday morning at 10:30 am, a prayer service in celebration of Elaine's life will take place in the funeral home with Deacon Victor Lembo officiating.
