Elder Frank James Babb Jr., affectionally known as “Bo Hog” to those who cherished him, departed this life at the age of 76 on October 17, 2025. Born on August 3, 1949, in the city of Prescott, Arkansas to Addie Mae Redic Babb and Elder Frank James Babb Sr. Like his father before him, Frank Jr. embarked on a life of relentless service, unwavering principle, and a deep devotion to his family and community.
He passionately dedicated 37 years of his professional life to the Weyerhaeuser Lumber Company concluding his service as a distinguished Fire Chief. His devotion to his community led him to serve tirelessly as the Mayor of Mountain Pine from 2003-2006. His tenure yielded notable changes which included the acquisition of water from Hot Springs and the establishment of an internet tower to augment cellular reception in the area. Franks civic service extended beyond his mayoral incumbency: he served as City Alderman, Union Leader, Mountain Pine Volunteer Fire Dept Chief, Red Cross Instructor, and NAACP President of Hot Springs. His vast contributions to community won him numerous accolades throughout his career.
Nevertheless, Elder Babb Jr. held his spiritual life in the highest esteem. Bishop L.T. Walker ordained Frank Jr. as a preacher. He dedicated many years to several church families and pastored Davis Memorial Church of God in Christ in Arkadelphia. He concluded his spiritual journey as a member of the Elect Temple Church of God in Christ Ministerial Department.
Constantly striving for self-improvement, he made a lifelong commitment to personal growth despite any adversaries he faced. His compassionate nature led him to aid and encourage other in their journey, ever ready to offer solace and support to those in need.
Frank was preceded in death by his mother Addie Mae Redic Babb, father Elder Frank James Babb Sr. and sisters Mary Ethel Babb and Willie Pearl Babb Stewart. Apart from his beloved wife of many years, Betty Newborn Babb and his cherished children Shonna Babb-Smith, Alex Trebek Babb, and Erik Reseek Babb. Frank Jr. also leaves behind his beloved siblings Larry Babb, Willie Babb, Celquetta Babb Pride and Reginald Babb. He is also fondly remembered by a host of nephews, nieces, grandchildren and family friends who will continue to hold him in their hearts.
The homegoing celebration honoring Elder Frank Babb Juniors life will be held at Harvey’s Chapel in Mountain Pine on Saturday, October 25. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Brandon's Mortuary in Malvern. Honorary pallbearers are Elder Larry Babb, Elder Keith Babb, Willie Babb, Alex Babb, Charles Babb and Bristen Babb Westbrook. We will remember Elder Frank James Babb Jr. as a man of principle, a beacon of compassion and a steadfast servant of his Lord and community. His legacy will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Frank was a friend and a man I respected very much. When he was Mayor of Mt Pine I admired his dedication and hard work for the community.
I considered him a friend and confidant I could look to for good advice

Our brother and fellow laborer in the gospel has gone from labor to reward. While we rejoice in the crown of righteousness bestowed we can’t help but grieve the separation by death. Our consolation is that the same faithful God our brother relied upon is here for us also. Just a little while to stay here and we’ll go sweeping through those pearly gates!

Missionary Babb, my dear Sister:
"Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal." I am praying for you and the family members of our dear Brother during this night season as you weep, confident in the scriptures, knowing that joy shall return.
