Elizabeth “Betty” Perrone, 97, of Chicago IL passed away March 4, 2026, after a long, beautiful life with her beloved family.
Betty was born August 17, 1928, in Chicago IL, the only child to parents Emil and Elizabeth “Lezel” Kesslau. She deeply loved the city of Chicago, hailing from the Northwest side for most of her life.
She married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Perrone in 1960 and together they created a beautiful family. Her two children, Jody and Bob, were her life and she never wavered from her being an incredible mother. Her grandchildren brought her immense joy and youthful adventure, keeping her young far into her 80’s.
In her younger years she enjoyed traveling with friends, bowling with the Schwaben mixed league, and needlepointing. She had a true green thumb, and her gardens were both bountiful and beautiful. She had a passion for food, and you could find her watching her favorite cooking shows in her later years. As a true grandmother, you could not be around Betty without an offer for a bite of her food or a prepared meal.
She is preceded in death by her parents Emil and Lezel Kesslau, her beloved husband of 54 years Bob, and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her two children Jody (Ron) Martin and Bob Perrone, seven grandchildren Kyle (Marisa) Martin, Kelley Martin, Rebeca Perrone, Angela Perrone, Jesica Tomasino, Heather Bergman and Jeff Martin, six great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. As well as cousins Jeanne Reder and Dolly Baum.
She was exceptionally strong and determined and lived on her own until her death. Her family will remember her fondly and deeply; she will be incredibly missed.
Visitation will be at the Skaja Terrace Funeral Home 7812 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Niles, on Sunday March 8, 2026 from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM.

My heart goes out to Betty’s family and friends. I never saw Betty in a bad mood and her humor and friendliness always made a visit with her a true pleasure. I will miss seeing and hearing from her. She was a very special person. The memories we all have of her are a treasure.

Sleep well Betty, you were such a wonderful neighbor & Friend. I have such wonderful memories of our travels to Hawaii & Mexico and sitting on your front porch reminiscing of our exploits. I will miss you forever and I cherish your recipe for spaghetti sauce and will think of you each time I make it.
