Liz was my next door neighbor, and had been for most of my life. She was an incredibly warm and friendly person, she would always say hello when she saw me outside and would always take the time to ask me how my day was whenever she could. I always appreciated that. It really, really saddens me to hear of her passing and I send my condolences to her family.

I am still in disbelief that Liz (Elizabeth as I always called her) is no longer with us. I met Elizabeth dancing many, many years ago and she had been a dear friend ever since. So many wonderful memories that I don't know where to start. We danced together and our mom's became great friends so we spent so much time together growing up. We remained good friends even when I moved to California and we always got together and still managed to have lots of fun and laughs every time I was back in RI. She was one of the kindest, sweetest and most positive people that I have ever known. She always saw the good in everyone and everything - a beautiful quality and she was a beautiful person. She loved her family and was such a wonderful daughter to her parent's and niece her aunt Bett. She had a passion for life and travel and her life was sadly cut way too short. My heart is heavy and my deepest sympathies go to her family and friends. RIP Elizabeth.

Elizabeth taught at Nathanael Greene Elementary school for 1 year. This is the message I shared with my faculty and staff:

It is with great sadness that I share with you the passing of Elizabeth Metfooney. The link to her obituary is attached below.

Although I only had the pleasure of Elizabeth's company for one year at Greene, I am grateful for having had the opportunity to work with one of the most positive human beings I've had the privilege of knowing. Elizabeth always had a smile and a kind word for anyone with whom she interacted.

Her passing reminds me of how fragile we are and how important our interactions are ... the last time I spoke with Elizabeth was in the summer ... she was working for COZ, enjoying every minute, and looking forward to her Scotland vacation with her aunt. What might I have said if I'd known I would not have had the opportunity to speak with her again? I'll say it now .... Thank you Elizabeth for your kindness, your smiles and your love for our students.

My deepest condolences to the Metfooney family. She was my son David's 2nd grade teacher at Baldwin 2 years ago. His classroom now was right next to hers. Not one day would go by when David and Ms. Metfooney did not share a warm hug. Every time I would see her, she would always say, you know I see "my David" everyday and get hugs from him! She was a real gem. Ms. Metfooney will forever be remembered. May you Rest In Peace.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness I feel about Liz's death. While there is no way I can feel your pain, I do feel your loss as I have known Liz for many years. Not only did we enjoy time spent together at Cunningham School, we also enjoyed our vacation to Grand Cayman Island many years ago that I will never forget. Peace and love to you and your family during this sorrowful time.
