We are so sorry for the loss of Lib. She always made us feel wanted. We will miss seeing her on Christmas and having our chats.. Prayers for the whole Pena family.

Elizabeth May “Libby” Peña, 77, of Philadelphia, IN, passed away at her home on Friday, December 21, 2018.

A native of Casey, IL, Libby was a long time resident of Philadelphia, IN. She had an extensive career in the administrative and client services fields. She work for various companies in Indianapolis and North Vernon, IN in various capacities including the following: Secretary - Indiana Lumberman’s Insurance Co; Club Membership Representative - RCA Inc; Underwriting Administrative Assistant- American States Insurance Co.; Claims Adjuster Assistant - Equifax; and “Letter to the Editor” Editor for the North Vernon Newspaper.   All of this while, raising a young family.

She and her late husband, Albert “Al” Peña lived in North Vernon, IN for several years and were active members of the North Vernon Baptist Church. Libby was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and also participated in the local Red Hat Society. In 2006, they moved back to Indianapolis and were long time members of the Greenfield Christian Church and then Warren Baptist Church. For the past five years, Libby faithfully attended member of Buck Creek Christian Church.

Libby was a devoted wife, mother and amazing grandmother to her 18 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She faithfully sent cards for birthdays, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and Christmas and sometimes, just because. She loved having tea parties with her grandchildren and always made sure to have the right treats for all to enjoy. Her generosity and compassion did not end there. Libby took pleasure in preparing meals for her neighbors when they were ill or lovingly “lending” her wonderful husband, Albert, to help those in need with repair jobs or yard work. In addition to caring for her family and spending time with friends, Libby was an avid reader and artist and enjoyed listening to music, especially Mario Alonzo.

She was preceded in death by parents Homer and Daisy Haley, her loving husband Albert Peña and her siblings John Haley, Agnes Wininger, Jane Lovell and Sharon Veach.

She leaves behind her sons, Stephen (Schiela) Peña McCordsville, Timothy (Cara) Peña, Southaven, MS, Anthony (Christi) Peña, Noblesville, Eddie (Becky) Peña, Indianapolis and daughter, Mary (Merrell) Todd, Indianapolis, IN, 18 grandchildren: Stephen Jr., Jacob; Wesley Diane, Ryan Elizabeth, Ty, Tate, Rowdy, Hudson, Tal, Treader, Austen; Chara, Christian, Paige; Mary, Jamie, Eddie Jr.; Andy; 7 great grandchildren: Brent, Jordan, Summer; Christopher, Brandon; Noah, Harper and 2 great-great grandchildren: Alyanna, Lincoln.

The visitation will be held at 11:00 am until the time of service on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with the burial to follow at Philadelphia Cemetery.
