Emil Neil “Sonny” Werner, age 93, of Point Pleasant Borough died Thursday, September 9, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Sonny was born and raised in Roselle Park, NJ and moved to Point Pleasant in 1958. He retired as Forman for Gusmer Corp. in Lakewood, before that he was the service manager for Twin Boro Ford in Roselle Park, NJ.
Sonny served in the Marines during WW II. He was a member of Pt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. He loved working outside around his home and tending to his fishpond. Sonny loved to cook and was known for his homemade bread and pigs in the blanket.
Sonny was predeceased by his son Keith Werner in 2014 and his grandson Neil Patrick Werner in 2015.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 63 years, his daughter Lisa Werner and her fiancée Ralph of Point Pleasant, and his son Neil and his wife Patricia of Island Heights. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Joshua, Timothy, Rachael, Jacqueline, Alexis and Gretchen.
There will be a Graveside Service offered on Friday October 22, 2021, at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown at 11:30 am.
