Erlina Carganillo

1938 - 2026

Erlina “Linda” Grande Carganillo was born on November 1, 1938, in San Narciso, Zambales, Philippines, one of five children of Marcelina Redolme and Vicente Grande. From her earliest days, Linda carried within her a deep determination and strength that would guide her through every season of her life.

A proud graduate of Far Eastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Linda moved to Guam in 1965. There, she met and married Fidel “Frank” Carganillo in 1967, and together they raised four children: Fe, Daisy, Levi, and Franklin. In 1976, she moved her family to Granada Hills, bought her first California home in 1977, and settled in Walnut in 1979 until 2020. After her husband Frank’s passing in 1985, she continued to carry her family forward with remarkable resilience and courage.

Linda found joy in bowling, serving in her Catholic faith, beach days, and fellowship with the Filipino community in Guam. In her later years, she found her deepest joy in cooking for her grandchildren, oftentimes surprising them with her beloved homemade bibingka and other Filipino dishes, tending to her garden, and unwinding with her favorite Korean dramas.
Surrounded by loved ones, Linda passed away on February 13, 2026, at the age of 87. She is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Her legacy is strength in adversity, perseverance through sacrifice, and love expressed through food and hard work. The family she raised and the values she instilled will carry her spirit forward, always.
