Erma Ladson Obituary
Erma Lee Ladson was born July 4, 1935 to the late Jennie Viola Tucker and James Tucker. On October 10, 2016, God saw that her work was done and called her home for eternal rest.
Erma Lee was born and grew up in Stony Creek, Virginia. At an early age she joined and was an active member at Little Bethal Church in Stony Creek. Erma received her education in the Sussex County School System.
Erma Lee moved to Brooklyn in 1957 and lived on Jefferson Avenue with her sister. While living and working in Brooklyn she met Samuel Ladson and they got married and started a family and eventually moved to Westbury, New York. Erma started her career with Grumman and worked for them until she retired. Erma became a member of The First Baptist church in Glen Cove where she served as a deaconess, mother to the youth choir, as well as a Sunday school teacher.
Erma enjoyed bowling, reading, taking long walks at Eisenhower Park, walking the board walk in Long Beach, planting all sorts of beautiful fragrant flowers, butter pecan ice cream, fantail shrimp, lobster sauce from Longs restaurant, and brewing tea in the sun in a mason jar on hot summer days . She also enjoyed brewing up all natural remedies for the common cold, giving a bible verse to encourage her friends and family, watching Soul Train and cooking Thanksgiving dinner. She was a cooking connoisseur and a master chief in her own right. Her cooking would make you say MMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!! each and every time you sat down for one of her home cooked meals, a true soul sister.
One of her favorite things to do was spend time with family and friends. She really loved the huge family Christmas celebrations at her sister home, which was a family tradition and spending time with family in Richmond and Stony Creek. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always spread her genuine love. On many occasions, you would find her listening to gospel music especially to the song, "I don't believe he bought me this far to leave me". In addition, she really liked to dance. And one of her favorite old school songs was Jackie Wilson's, "Baby Workout". As soon as she heard that song, she was the first person to jump up and dance!
She leaves behind to cherish her memories: three sons, Ferlando Tucker of Hempstead, New York, Derek Ladson of Austin, Texas and Rodney Ladson of Woodbridge, Virginia; three daughters, Regina Boyd of Uniondale, New York, Bernadine Ladson & Sirena Ladson of Richmond, Virginia; 6 grandchildren Destiny, Monique, Ebony, Devlin, Tierra & Darius, four great-grandchildren, Amir, Ava, Dylan & Kyle; one sister Gloria Moore of Westbury, New York, one son in law Mark Boyd, two nieces Tawanna & Monica, 2 nephews Jeffrey & Mark and a host of cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
We are thankful and blessed for each moment that we shared.
