Memorial services for Ernie Hackmann will be 11AM Tuesday at the Scobey Assembly of God with Pastor Mike Hammerly officiating. Interment will follow at Daniels County Cemetery with Military Honors. Ernest Alfred Hackmann, 87, of Scobey died at Daniels Memorial Health Care January 14, 2021 from natural causes. Cremation has taken place and Waller Funeral Home of Scobey has charge of arrangements. A full obituary will appear when it has been released by the family.
Ernest Alfred Hackmann was born in Scobey April 12, 1933 to Alfred and Emma Hackmann of Flaxville. He went to be with the Lord at the age of 87, on January 14, 2021 at Daniels Memorial Healthcare Center in Scobey.
Ernie was raised south of Flaxville, where he also attended school. In 1952 he entered the Army to loyally serve his country. In 1955 he married Mary Tkachyk in Scobey. Ernie and Mary celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in December of 2020.
Ernie went to work for the Daniels County Road Department in 1956, retiring after 40 years on the job. After retirement, he was widely known for his meticulous workmanship skills, installing doors, decks, windows and the list goes on. He was known as the “Doorman” because of the vast amount of doors he installed. He also enjoyed yard work and building things in his shop.
His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his life and joy. Another great joy in life was making people laugh with his quick sense of humor. He loved people and loved helping everyone.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Carol Fester and Judy Nelson, brothers Leland, Vernon, Robert, Jerry (Jug), and a great granddaughter, Krystal Dawn Hackmann.
He is survived by his wife Mary of 65 years, a son Dan Hackmann and a daugher Valerie (Robert) Hellickson; grandchildren Scott (Scooter), Eric, and Adam Hellickson, Kortnee (Ryan) Howard, Jennifer (Richard) Gendron, and Tiffany Hackmann; nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, January 19 at Scobey Assembly of God with Pastor Mike Hammerly officiating. Interment followed at the Daniels County Cemetery with military honors. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren Scooter, Eric, Adam, Kortnee, Jennifer and Tiffany.
