In memory of Eugene Francis Liss, born March 13, 1959 and died January 9, 2026, beloved son of the late Eugene J. Liss and Constance L. Liss (nee Pusateri) of Oak Park, IL; beloved brother of Mary Liss of Brookfield, IL and Holly A. Liss of Forest Park, IL; and beloved uncle of Elizabeth Considine of Bettendorf, IA; beloved nephew of 10 aunts and uncles; and a beloved cousin and friend of many.
Gene grew up in Oak Park, IL and was a graduate of St. Edmund’s School and Oak Park-River Forest High School in Oak Park. He studied hard and graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Financial Accounting and a minor in General Marketing, attained his C.P.A. degree, then went on to take the Series 7 exam, leading to his life’s work as a Certified Financial Planner in both California and the greater Chicago area. A man of strong enthusiasms, Gene loved nothing more than being outside enjoying the sun, surf and sand in his beloved southern California, where he moved as a young adult, residing in Manhattan Beach and Huntington Beach for many years. He was a true appreciator and owner of a succession of sports cars; was a major proponent of fine dining al fresco, preferably accompanied by a cold margarita and a view of the Pacific Ocean; was a lifelong dedicated Chicago sports team enthusiast, with a special love for the Chicago Cubs; and enjoyed and forever got a kick out of every dog he ever came across, especially his beloved Candy. Gene experienced a series of health setbacks in his later life that prevented him from participating in some of his favorite activities but always appreciated conversation and a good laugh.
A memorial service/celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Peterson-Bassi Chapels, 6938 W. North Ave., Chicago IL 60707. Donations can be made to the Animal Care League of Oak Park (animalcareleague.org) or Thrive Counseling Center of Oak Park, IL (Thrivecc.org).

Very sorry to hear about Gene's passing. We were classmate from grade school. I haven't seen him in a number of years. I will keep your family in my prayers.
