Evelyn Daman

1927 - 2025

Evelyn went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 15, 2025, at the age of 98.

She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Rosensteel of Rochester, PA and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn grew up in the greater Rochester, PA area and graduated from Rochester High School Class of 1945. Evelyn became a Bell Telephone Operator in the days of switchboards and plug in wiring to manually connect each call. 

She married Roy L. Daman (deceased) in 1951, and was mother to Roy H Daman, Shelby, NC, Melanie Daman – Chattin, Rome, PA, and Marsha E. Daman (deceased) of Cherryville, NC. She was grandmother to five grandchildren: Roy Laurence Daman, Karen Sue Daman, Brett Stephens, Seth Stephens, and Todd Stephens, and great grandchildren Victoria Brooks Daman, Natalie Daman, Emma Stephens, Kiera Stephens, and Lachlan Stephens.

Evelyn was a wonderful home maker who loved the Lord Jesus. She understood the importance of spreading the Gospel and began by teaching her children from an early age the need for prayer and Bible reading. Evelyn was blessed with an amazing voice, and her children grew up listening to her renditions of “The Lord’s Prayer” and “He”.

She was a great cook, making every meal from “scratch”, canned home-grown vegetables, and made some of the best home-made bread, pies, cakes and cookies. She was a gifted seamstress. She loved to laugh and would look for opportunities to bring a smile to everyone.

Some of the best memories are of her having warm cookies or home-made bread fresh from the oven when her children arrived home from school. It was during those times when she listened, encouraged, and provided wisdom for each of her children as they encountered life in school and beyond.

Evelyn will be buried next to her husband, Roy L. Daman, in the National Military Cemetery near Bath, New York. A private graveside service will be held there when arrangements have been finalized.
