Evelyn Wesche Obituary

Evelyn Fern Wesche (nee Koenig), age 92 former long time resident of the “West Overland” area of St. Louis County, Missouri. Asleep in Jesus, Saturday, August 24, 2024. She was born on February 25, 1932 in Perryville, Missouri, the youngest of children of Arnold and Agnes (nee Rabold) Koenig. During her childhood, her family moved to Overland, Missouri and became members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She attended school at Our Redeemer Lutheran School through the eighth grade and was confirmed. She then attended and graduated Ritenour High School. She married the love of her life, Oreon Wesche, on February 24, 1951 and they were blessed with 66 years together before his passing in 2018. In addition to raising her children, she worked outside the home as a secretary and bookkeeper for Douglas Tool. She also enjoyed gardening, collecting various collectables, and taking care of her four-legged friends.


Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oreon; son-in-law, Ralph Williams; two brothers, Earl Koenig and Pete Koenig; sister-in-law, Lee Koenig; along with most of Oreon’s siblings and their spouses. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Linda Williams, Brian (Rena) Wesche, Gregg (Michelle) Wesche and Diane (Tad) Richards; fifteen grandchildren, Nolan (Amber) Wesche, Kelsey (Mark) Reizer, Griffin Wesche, Janey Wesche, Lindsay (Alan) Runyon, Shelby Wesche, Ashley (Dean) Reinitz, Devon (Dave) Bertillo, Rory (Torey) Picker, Brittany Picker, Mic Williams, Brian (Diane) Williams, Michelle (Mike) Wallace, Jordan Richards and Jenna Butler; twenty-two great-grandchildren, Gabe, Ella, Emma, Abby, Elliott, Jaina, Lincoln, Riley, Evelyn, Faylinn, Bergan, Alaric, Audrey, Jason, Hannah (Davis), Matthew, Zachary, Grant (Hayley), Gabrielle, Makenzie, Miley, and one expected; four great-great-grandchildren, Olivia, Emma Jane, Royalty, and Ahria; two sisters-in-laws and one brother-in-law, Esther Peirce, Howard and Bobbie Wesche; many nieces, nephews, cousins, their families, and friends.


Services: Visitation at SHEPARD FUNERAL CHAPEL, 9255 Natural Bridge Road at I-170, St. Louis, Missouri (314-426-6000) on Tuesday, September 3 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9135 Shelley Avenue, Overland, Missouri on Wednesday, September 4 from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. with luncheon following. Burial will be private.


Memorials: Evelyn's family suggests donations in her memory be made to the Wesche Music Fund at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9135 Shelley Avenue, Overland, MO 63114.
