It is with a sorrowful heart that the Frank C. Maynard family announces the loss of our patriarch, Frank C. Maynard, known to many as Buck. After 5 years, Frank lost his battle with dementia on Monday, December 23, 2019. Frank was born October 10, 1932, in Randolph, VT to Frank C. Maynard, Sr. and Florence (Bruce) Maynard. Growing up in Randolph, Frank participated in sports and community activities while having multiple jobs at the local pharmacy and delivering milk for family friends. He graduated from Randolph HS in 1951. He studied pharmacology at the Mass College of Pharmacy in Boston, receiving his degree, in 1955.
After receiving his degree, Frank served stateside for the US Armed Services as a medical specialist for three years. He served services as a Reservist, terminating in 1962.
Relocating to the Upper Valley, Frank was a pharmacist at Putnam’s drug store in Hanover, NH for almost 35 years where he built many long standing relationships. Wanting to follow his entrepreneurial spirit, in 1983 he branched out to begin a second vocation of specialty advertising sales. He was one of the top producers at Newton Manufacturing, which became Halo Branded Solutions, where he won numerous awards and accolades during the next 35 years.
Outside of his work, he was a Shriner for Mt. Sinai Temple No.3. In 1968, he started rising through the ranks of the shrine and served as Potentate for the state of Vermont in 1980. Frank was both the chairman of the board of governors for the annual Vermont/New Hampshire sugar bowl game and also served for 20 years on the board of governors for the Springfield, MA Shriners Children’s Hospital.
Frank enjoyed playing golf with his family and frequently visited Pinehurst, NC. He also enjoyed taking walks, watching the LPGA tour on television and was an active member of the West Lebanon Congregation Church. He was supportive and enjoyed following his son, Frank’s, golf career as well as his daughter, Cynthia’s, entrepreneurial endeavors.
Frank married Linda Stanton on September 30, 1973 in Hanover, NH having met her in the drugstore. They resided in West Lebanon, NH during their marriage, but maintained a second home in Cary, NC for winter months and visiting family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; his two children, Frank Maynard III (Sarah) of Durham, NC and Dr. Cynthia Ward (Chris) of Roswell, GA; sister, Catherine Maynard of Randolph, VT; and his three grandchildren, Laney (12), Riley (9), and Logan (7).
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Frank C. Maynard, Sr., and his mother, Florence Bruce Maynard.
The family is very grateful for the love and attention that the staff at Valley Terrace in Wilder, Vermont provided to Frank in his last year of life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the West Lebanon Congregational Church, 18 Maple Street, West Lebanon, NH 03784.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 16, 2020 at the West Lebanon Congregational Church at 10:00 A.M. Family and friends planning to attend should wear face masks, observe social distancing, and bear in mind the maximum capacity of the church when timing their arrival.
Burial with military funeral honors will follow at the West Lebanon Cemetery.

To Franks family
I did not know Frank well but I always enjoyed chatting with him whenever he come into Shaw’s to shop with his wife.
My daughter Samantha enjoyed doing business with him and I think he was quite fond of her.
He was a very nice man and I still have some of pens with his name on him that he always gave me as a gift. There should be more wonderful people like him and he will be missed.
Fondly

I knew Frank over many years. Our sons were in Little League together, same time different teams. I coached and Frank kibitzed always with a chuckle. To me Frank was Mr. Shriner. He was deeply committed to fund raising and doing good. However, his driving those little cars in the parade could be a little scary. Over the years Frank sold my bank many marketing materials. My favorite was a small pocket calendar with a drawing of the bank embossed on the front cover in "gold". My chairman, Paul Paganucci, absolutely loved those things and he always had a big thank you for Frank. Venders who call on you can be a distraction. On the other hand, everyone eagerly anticipated Frank's visits. Frank was always a positive, upbeat, friendly guy who wanted to know, "what can I do for you?" He really put his customers first. If there was a problem with an order (which rarely happened), Frank was in my office the same day working out a fix it plan. I will miss Frank. He was the best.

We were so sad to hear of Frank's passing. We had known him since the early Putnam days, and continued to see him frequently in his "life after drugstore" days, even becoming a customer of his, yet again. A wonderful fellow who never forgot our names . . . or, most important of all . . . our friendship. Our sincere thoughts and prayers to you all.

Dear Linda and family, I am sad for your loss, but happy for Frank's freedom from the spiraling path of dementia. I am really grateful I got to know him a little at Valley Terrace where he was residing and where my Mom also is living and miss seeing him. He still had a true spark about him that always brought a smile to my face. I know he will be dearly missed and I send you my condolences. You are in my heart and prayers.

Dear Frank's family....I am so sad for all of you for the loss of this very special person but, I am so happy for Frank to be in Heaven healthy, strong and happy! I remember being so very sick in the early 1970's and needing a prescription for pneumonia. I remember the police meeting Frank at Putnam's around 2AM and he opening Putnam's to prepare my prescription. I have and will always remember his kindness to me as a new resident having moved up from NY in November of 1969. I enjoyed dropping in Putnam's on my lunch hour to say hello and wish him a good day. Decades later I had the chance to order from him and received pens for my organization. We crossed paths many times over the years. My prayers are sent for all of you and my thanks to be able to write this memory of such a special man. See you in Heaven Frank! Many thanks! Judith Koester

We were sad to hear of Frank's passing. We had done business with him for almost 40 years , and you continued to service our account the past few years. I remember Frank coming by Shaker Valley a few times a year and selling us products. He was always kind and we visited about everything, even Randolph as my Mom grew up there. We think of him when we hand out our key tags and calendars. May he rest in peace. Keeping all of you in our prayers.
