McCauley Family:
I am so sorry for you loss. My deepest condolences. I know it may sound crazy but I first met Mr. McCauley (as I would always call him) when I was about 2 yrs old. My father worked for him for many many years in Marquez, Tx. He was the most sweetest, kindest, big hearted person I have ever met as was his wife Mrs. McCauley. He was super kind to my whole family and always showed us lots of love. Gone but never forgotten always in our hearts...RIP MR. MCCAULEY.

Dear Joyce, Robin and Bruce: I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart is completely shattered. Fred and your family are a huge part of my life and have been for over 40 years. Fred may be my father-in-law, but he always treated me like a daughter, and I have loved him like a father all of those years. He is very special, like you all are, to me. It has been an honor to know and love him. He is the GREATEST man I’ve ever known. His kindness and generosity are like no other person on this earth. The time and love he gave to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the example he set for marriage, family and true love and devotion are extraordinary as he loved and cared for his wife and family for 71 years and was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather. I am so grateful that Sharla, Kassidy and Hunter got to witness that their entire lives. Fred is truly one of a kind. Anyone that knows him is a better person because of it. I found comfort in knowing that Kassidy was waiting for her Pa at the Pearly Gates on October 11, and they entered the Gates and experienced the embrace of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ together. I believe that was God’s plan so that we would have some peace and comfort after they left this world until we see them again. I look forward to that glorious reunion. Until then, I will love and miss Fred and Kassidy my whole life.

Dear Fred McCauley Family...my heartfelt sympathies to each of you over the passing of Fred, a man who I genuinely looked up to and valued -- such a generous and thoughtful man-- always supportive of his community and chamber of commerce. He left his family a great legacy-- Ecclesiastes 7:1: A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth... Bruce Hillegeist

I have known Fred and Joyce for about 55 years. He is one of the finest men ive ever known. I have always admired the way he treated Joyce and his family, but Freddy was always good to everyone. He was generous to a fault, so loving and kind. I cant imagine Dossi without him. What a precious love story they have shared for over 70 years.
Thank you Lord for allowing me to be loved by them ♥♥

I met Fred Robert McCauley, Jr. in the summer of 1969 in Inverness Forest. We called him "Fredbuck" due to his love of hunting whitetail deer. We were all young teenage boys and Fred taught us how to camp on Cypress Creek, gun safety, how to shoot, load bullets and clean guns, among other things. The most important things Fred taught us though was honesty, love of family, be a good hearted person and have a good work ethic.
In short, Fredbuck was a Top-Shelf person with all the attributes associated with that title. All us kids had good father's, but Fredbuck was a second father figure for us that we all cherished and look back on with fond memories.

I have such fond memories of spending time at Fred & Joyce's house and the real "game" room full of animals from his African hunting safaris. There is still a picture of me standing with Fred's Lion hanging on my Dad's office wall and I'm grateful for the lifetime friendship he had with my Dad, Sidney Anderson. I will post a flag in Fred's memory in the Bryan Rotary Field of Valor at Veterans Park this November.
