On Tuesday, December 18, 2018, Fred Henry Pulley, Sr., was visited by his personal angel and our late Matriarch who came to see him one last time. She knew he was ready. She could tell it was time. Susie whispered in his ear as only we know she could, “C’mon my love, it’s time to go.” Mercifully, one Angel came and two Angels left.
At that moment our Patriarch, beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend, Fred Henry Pulley, Sr., left this life to start his everlasting existence. Our hearts and lives were forever transformed.
Fred Henry Pulley, Sr., 96, was born October 22, 1922 in Brunswick County, Virginia to the late Fed and Anna Mallory Pulley. He relocated with his family to Dinwiddie County, Virginia, he received his education. Fred accepted Christ as Lord and Savior at an early age. After 25 years of service with Petersburg Concrete Pipe and Products Company, Inc., he retired in 1980.
He was preceded in death by his loving and dedicated wife, Susie Bell Edwards Pulley; brothers, Acrea, Rochester, John, James, and Stephen Pulley, Sr., and devoted beloved sister, Mattie P. Jones.
Left to spread his legacy, cherish his memory, and spread his lessons of family, adoration and devotion, six loving and dedicated children: Fred Henry “Junie” Pulley, Jr. (Carolyn), Annie Bell Pulley Mason (late James), Calvin Jerome Pulley (Claudette), Faith Laverne Pulley Winfield (Willie), Gail Patricia Pulley, and Ivor Keith Pulley; devoted stepson and longtime family friend, Hellion Flowers; thirteen loving grandchildren, devoted Sonya B. Weaver (Steven), Sophia D. Mason, Tyrell R. Bonner, Tyrone U. Bonner Jr., Frederick H. Pulley (Virginia), Adrian T. Myrick, Sean J. Winfield, Marcell Cooper, Debra Winfield Felton (Prentice), Teshima L. Stewart, devoted Brittany L. Myrick, Sinead K. Pulley, Christopher G. Pulley and Quanisha A. Barnette; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Thorne (late Clinton), Bernice Harvell (late Benjamin), Susie Allen; two brothers, Willard Pulley and Eddie Pulley (Pearl); three sister-in-laws, Virgie Bonner (late Harrison Sr.), Mary White (late Raymond), and devoted Elsie Johnson (late Earnest); two brother-in-laws, Richard Edwards (late Ruth), Booker Edwards (Ida), a host of nieces, other relatives, and close devoted friends.
Fred Henry Pulley, Sr. was our glue, our protector, and provider. We will miss his laughter, essence, and love.
Special Thanks to the staff of At Home Care Hospice and dedicated caregivers, Calvin Jerome Pulley and Claudette Myrick.
Services for the celebration of the life of Fred Henry Pulley, Sr. will be held at 11 AM Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Petersburg. Rev. Herbert R.Holly will officiate. Interment will be at Southlawn Memorial Park in Prince George. Remains rest with the professional and remarkable staff of Joseph M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Services, 530 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg, where the wake will be held from 6PM to 7PM on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. The family will receive relatives and friends at the family home 15404 Brick Road, Carson, Virginia 23830.
