Gayland Waltmon Obituary

Gayland Keith Waltmon, 79, of Durant, died Thursday, July 29, 2021 in McAlester.


 


Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.


 


Gayland was born to Givens V. and Lerlia Evelyn (Johns) Waltmon on March 16, 1942 in DeKalb, Texas.  He graduated from DeKalb High School.


 


Gayland married Blenda Dean Hindman on June 16, 1969 at the Big Woods Church near DeKalb.


 


He was self-employed as an accountant, and resided in Texas most of his life.  After his daughter was grown, Gayland graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.  He then resided in New Boston, Texas, and owned and operated an accounting service in Texarkana, Texas.


 


Gayland’s life was centered around his wife and family, and he enjoyed caring for them.


 


He was preceded in death by his father: Givens V. Waltmon, mother: Lerlia Evelyn Robinson, and three brothers.


 


Gayland is survived by his wife: Blenda Dean Waltmon of the home; daughter: Kathryn Sexton and husband, Tim, Jr. of Durant; son: Edward Waltmon and wife, “G.g.” of Red Oak, Texas; grandchildren: Haven Waltmon, Chassity Harper and husband, Jason, Charles Knight, Jessica Bower and husband, Andy, Kristy Williams and husband, Shawn, Rusty Knight and wife, Jessicah, Kendale Mooney, Caleb Sexton and wife, Makala; 21 great-grandchildren; brother: Don Waltmon; sister-in-law: Theresa and husband, Harles; and numerous other family members and friends.
