Geneva Morris

Geneva Morris was born on January 27, 1938 to Lucious Jefferson Morris and Marie Bernard Morris in Liberty, Texas.

Geneva passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Geneva was a loving mother, grandmother, a caring sister, a loyal and cherished friend, and an extraordinary human being. An accomplished and beloved educator, Geneva spent her life nurturing young hearts and minds, giving children their very first lessons in kindness, wonder, and joy.

Geneva found humor in the simplest moments, reminding everyone around her not to take life too seriously.  Even in her final days, she was making her family laugh - proof that her spirit of joy never wavered.  Though fiercely independent, Geneva loved her friends and family with unshakable devotion.  A devout Catholic, she began each morning in prayer - outside, in every kind of weather - lifting up the names of those she loved.  Her faith was steadfast and her presence was a constant source of comfort and light.

There has never been and will never be another like her.  Her laughter, her wisdom, and her faith will live on in the countless lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace, her light still shining in all who were blessed to know her.  Without a doubt, we are fortunate to know and be known by Geneva.  May we honor her memory by celebrating and embracing life the way she always did.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Lucious and Marie Morris, brothers, Lawrence Morris, Sr. and Louis Morris, sister Dorothy Jean Morris Charles, niece, Angela Morris, and nephew, Lawrence Morris, Jr.

Geneva is survived by her two children - Vanessa Fontenot Scoggin (Stephen), Kenneth Fontenot (Victoria), - one brother Earnest E. Morris (Melissa) - five grandchildren - Ashley Fontenot Sanders, Ryan Fontenot (Amanda), Jaime Fontenot, Stephanie Scoggin, and Samuel Scoggin - as well as many beloved great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
