Genevieve Panchenko

1924 - 2026

Genevieve Panchenko (née Czaplicka), age 101, passed away on January 20, 2026, in Dearborn, Michigan.

Genevieve was born on September 30, 1924, and spent her entire life in Dearborn. It was there that she built a life rooted in family, faith, and the people she loved.

Genevieve is survived by her four children, fifteen grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward a piece of her story.

She was a woman of quiet devotion and unmistakable personality, faithfully saying the rosary nearly every day, while also enjoying time playing pinochle with her friends, or at the casino hitting the slots. Her devotion extended beyond family and faith, to the Detroit Tigers, whom she followed faithfully for decades. 

Her life spanned a century, but her impact will live on for generations to come.

 

Funeral Liturgy Monday 11:00 a.m. at St. Barbara Catholic Church, 13534 Colson St, Dearborn, MI 48126. Viewing from 10:30 a.m. at church. Visitation Sunday 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Dearborn Location of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 22546 Michigan Ave, 48124. Interment St. Hedwig Cemetery.  Rosary Sunday 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Henry Ford Hospice
