After a life well lived, George Monroe Manns departed this life on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at his home. He was born on May 21, 1943, to the late Loleader Wade Manns and James Andrew Manns.
George received his education at George Washington Carver. He dedicated many years of service to Bassett Furniture Company, which later became Zenith, before retiring.
George lived a vibrant life filled with love, kindness, and joy. He touched many hearts and will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Danielle Manns; three sisters, Regenia Stanley, Debra Manns, and Gwendolyn Manns; and two brothers, Thelbert Manns and Grant Wade.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Cecelia Manns of Bassett, Virginia, and Veronica Wimbush (Warren) of Stuart, Virginia; two brothers, James McArthur “Sonny” Manns of Collinsville, Virginia, and Jerry Ross of South Carolina; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family, and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, with Elder Jonell Manns officiating. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Manns Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, the late Gwendolyn Manns daily from 12:00pm to 7:00pm.

While growing up, “Uncle” George was a staple in the lives of me and my brothers and sister. He always showed us love and attention and occasionally discipline.
