George's Obituary

George R. McGhee, III, affectionately known as “Bobby” departed this life on September 19, 2022.  He was born July 13, 1957 to the late George R. McGhee II and Juanita Panky McGhee. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James R. McGhee, Sr.

George was a man of dignity, honor and character.  He served in the U. S. Air Force for 8 years. He worked on Presidential airplanes and was an Aerodrome Vehicles operator. He loved the Washington Redskins, now the Commanders. He loved to play the base guitar and was technology savy. His family meant the world to him; his mother, father, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.  He was a wonderful father to his son and he truly adored and cherished his grandkids. He was a wonderful step-father, grandfather, brother-in-law and uncle to his beloved wife Tonya’s family.

He had a distinctive laugh that would light up a room and make everyone smile. A real genuine man.  Survivors include his wife, Eutonia McGhee, son, George Malcolm Childress, grandchildren, Xavier and Xaielle Childress and Todd Manns, 3 stepchildren, who  called him Daddy; Antwan Tinsley and Monique and Ashley Simmons, his siblings: Barbara Newton (George), Cynthia Taylor, Anthony McGhee (Billie Jo), DeAnna Morgan (Vwezo), 11 nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022, 11:00AM at Serenity. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Friends may visit at Serenity on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 2-5PM for viewing.
