Dr. Vogler was my first boss fresh out of Veterinary Technician school. Marie drove me to his office and told him I was his new tech. (Thanks Marie!) He was a mentor and a friend. We were more than his employees and that made working for him a formative experience in my early career. I will always remember that the right tool for the job is the one I know how to use. When I hear hoof beats I don’t go looking for zebras. And I always keep in mind that my patients didn’t read the same text book I did. George was a positive force of nature and I feel privileged to have been his employee and mentee. He will be greatly missed.

We were so blessed to have many good memories, visits and special moments with Uncle George (and Marie). A bright mind that inspired reading, a generous heart that encouraged family, and a great storyteller! Our hearts ache but we're positive he has a new home in heaven. All our love to you Marie.

George will be missed by many, especially during holiday seasons and remembered fondly for the gentleman he was - he always stood when a lady was present.

Dr vogler was my mentor. He taught me so much. He told me one of the things I will never forgetyou can worry about it or just move on. We had so many great conversations in his office.

I was one of the people who recruited George and Marie to join the U of Missouri Laboratory Animal Medicine training program in 1976. When I returned from my one year sabbatical in July 1978, George was my resident at the Medical School.
When I was recruited to Saint Louis University (SLU) in 1979 to start the Department of Comparative Medicine, I recruited George and Marie to be my first faculty in September of that year. It also allowed them to get married.
Starting with almost nothing, Marie developed a Diagnostic Laboratory and George developed a Surgical Suite and Clinical Laboratory. George and Marie were two of the most hard working, talented, visionary and self-motivated people I ever had the pleasure to work with. Over the years, the Department received many accolades and achieved much success. George and Marie were responsible for much of it.
Marie left for a position at Washington University in the late 1980s, but George remained at SLU through retirement in 2006.
George was not always easy to work with, partly because he demanded very high standards and he would settle for nothing else. I am so very grateful that he was my professional colleague for nearly 30 years.

I met George when he was doing residency at Mizzou. Lost touch but always remembered his telling me how much he spent on books for his ‘mental health.’ Super kind, very interesting, extraordinarily smart. Condolences to Marie whom I met one time.

Mike and I were close friends of George’s when he was at Mizzou and Mike was working at the Vet school. George was always there to help, like taking me out and teaching me to drive a stickshift. Mike had tried once and given up in frustration, so George picked me up early one day and took me out to an empty parking lot and taught me how to do it. We lost touch after Mike and I went into the Air Force, but we never forgot the wonderful memories of our friendship.
