Georgette L. (Roberge) Simard of Reading, MA, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2022 at the age of 90. Born January 25, 1932 in Auburn, Maine, she was the daughter of Paul and Leontine (Desmarais) Roberge. Georgette was a ray of sunshine in the lives of all who knew her. Her kind, caring and thoughtful ways will be missed by many. After high school she attended Holy Ghost Hospital Training School for Nurses. It was while she was there that she met the love of her life, “Skip”. They married in 1954 and moved to Reading in 1966 to begin the next chapter in their lives. Georgie, as her friends and family called her, continued to care for others and began private duty nursing a few years after moving to Reading. She enjoyed camping with her family and made many lasting relationships with her camping friends. She also enjoyed trips with special friends including a month’s stay in Hawaii and a trip to Italy. Her granddaughter Sarah was her world. They enjoyed many adventures together including train rides and Valentine’s Day dates, playing dress up, baking and shopping. Georgie made friends everywhere she went and was unfailingly generous with family, friends, and acquaintances. She loved to bake and share treats with everyone.
Later in life she became an avid reader and at the age of 90 she became a volunteer at the Reading Public Library.
She is survived by her daughter Debra (Simard) Johnson and her husband Raymond of Leominster, her granddaughter Sarah Trebilcock Johnson and her husband Joseph Trebilcock of Mansfield, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph E. Simard, her parents, her sisters Gabrielle (Roberge) Konovalchik and Aliette (Roberge) Allen.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Glen Cemetery on Saturday January 7, 2023 at 11:00am. All are welcome to attend.
Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Reading Public Library, 64 Middlesex Ave. Reading, MA 01867.

Georgie was an incredible person. I was blessed with meeting Georgie on a trip to Italy back in 1999 and stayed in contact with her throughout the years. She would have a dinner for all of us who met her on the Italy trip every year and would get together in between. She visited my new house in Sutton, Ma. She was such an excellent example of living life to it's fullest. Sadly, Georgie will be missed.

Debbie, Ray, Sarah and Joe,
I am so, so sorry for your loss. She was so proud of all of you, and you were the lights of her lives! I saw Georgi on Thursday, and we had a nice visit even though she was pretty sick. She was such a good friend to our family, and so kind to my mother in her last years. We will miss her.
