Georgia Ross, affectionately known as Susie, was born on August 4, 1929, in Aliceville, Alabama, to the late Eddie and Flora Moultrie. Georgia and her younger sister, Gloria Moultrie Broadnax, were lovingly raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended A.H. Parker High School
until her marriage to Eddie Lee Jones. From this union, six beautiful children were born.
After Eddie completed his service in the United States Military he moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Georgia relocated there, where she made a home for her family for more than 30 years. Due to the oppression and hardships of the Jim Crow era, which made it difficult for many families to
thrive, Georgia and Eddie’s union ended in 1958. Through her resilience and faith, Georgia continued to care for her children on her own until she met Rodney Hill, who was captivated by her beauty and Southern charm. From this union, two beautiful daughters were born.
Together they raised 11 children which included Rodney’s 2 children and their grandchild. Their unconditional love and strong family bond were instilled in ALL their children. Which why is today, we celebrate the blessed life of Georgia who was cared for by her children until her peaceful sunset.
Georgia was a phenomenal woman and cherished her role as the matriarch of the family. Through her FAITH and WISDOM, granted by GOD, she leaves behind a Legacy of LOVE and Excellence that continues to shine through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and
great-great grandchildren.
Georgia was proceeded in death by her late husband, Howard Dennis Ross, Affectionately known by her children as “Pops”; sons, Larry Lee Jones, Donald Jones and David Jones. Step-son Tony Hill, Grandsons Demar Jones and Victor D. Hill, Nephew Gregory Broadnax, Son-in-law Ricky Johnson, Daughter-in-law Renee Jones.
Here to continue her legacy are Timothy Edward Jones (Roxanna), Flora Johnson, Renee Jones, Cheryl Hill, Lauren Hill (Corey), and step-daughter Khrystyne Hill.
A legacy of grandchildren, Treasure McGee (Keith), Timothy Jones Jr (Gail), Ebony Jones, Kenneth D’el May (Tonni), Davon May, Originelle Larry Jones, Danielle Jones, Dana Lagarde (Darrell), Syreeta White (Courtney), Romeshia Jones, Royce Johnson, Cortez Hill, Darryl Brown, Demarcus Hill, Adam Jones (Jasmine), Kennedy Ward, and Trey Ward; nephew, Michael Broadnax (Tangy); nieces Cynthia Broadnax and Ronetta Clark (Robert).
