Georgie Jane Strmiska

1933 - 2023

Georgie Jane Strmiska, age 90, went to see her Lord and Savior on November 30, 2023. She was born on September 13, 1933 in Granger, Texas to loving parents, Joe and Annie Konarik.

Georgie has been a parishioner of SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger her whole life. In addition, she belongs to SPJST #20, and is an honorary member of KJZT.

Georgie was devoted to her husband, Gilbert Strmiska, who passed in 2004.

She is survived by her son, Larry Strmiska (wife Tina) of Cameron; daughter, Nadine Goodney (husband David) of Baytown; her grandchildren, LeeAnn Barnhill (husband Steven) of Baytown, Gregory (Bubba) Dawson of Baytown, Nicole Voyles of Baytown, Erik Strmiska (wife Leah) of Cameron, Joseph Strmiska (wife Tana) of College Station; and 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter;  Sisters: Dorothy Zarosky of Academy, Geraldine Konarik of Cedar Creek, and Emily Hutka of Zabcikville.

Georgie was met at the gates of heaven by her husband Gilbert, and great-grandson, Rylan.

Georgie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a great love of baking her favorite Poppyseed cakes, and Buthka. Her flowers and gardening gave her a peacefulness and beauty with nature. She leaves behind many cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Georgie loved her family above all else, her children and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy.

Pallbearers are: Gregory Dawson, Erik Strmiska, Joseph Strmiska, Steven Barnhill, Trenton Strmiska, and Rodrick Hutka.
Honorary pallbearers are: Bobby Strmiska, Patrick Hutka, Michael Hutka, and Fernando Trevino.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 beginning at 5:00 PM at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. Mass of the resurrection will be held at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, Texas at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Burial will follow at Granger City Cemetery in Granger. All are invited to a reception at the parish hall after the burial service.
