Gerald "Jerry" Walters

1957 - 2025

Gerald L. “Jerry” Walters, 67, of New Market, passed away on Friday October 17, 2025 at Rosewalk Village of Lafayette, surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry was born December 3, 1957, to the late Gene and Evangeline (Light) Walters. He was a 1975 graduate of Southmont High School. On October 17, 1981, he was united in marriage to Carla (Reese) Walters, who survives.

Jerry retired from the Carpenters Union Local 859 and later from Hester Farms. In his earlier years, he enjoyed riding and showing horses and throughout his life cherished camping trips and spending time with friends in the garage, often sharing laughter and music during karaoke nights.

In addition to his wife of 44 years, Jerry is survived by two daughters, Mandy Walters of Lafayette, and Stacy (Dakota) Davis of Crawfordsville; five beloved grandchildren, Beckett, Benson, Brynley, Lexi, and Adeline; and his siblings, Marvin (Becky) Walters of Tennessee, Donna Reed of Ladoga, and Mary Lou (Randy) Hutchison of Crawfordsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Evangeline Walters.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Burkhart Funeral Home, with visitation beginning two hours prior to the service. Jerry’s brother, Marvin Walters, will officiate. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery.

Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to a time of fellowship and refreshments.
