Gerald W. Barrett Sr. (Jerry) of Manchester, Missouri died suddenly Sunday, December 18th, 2022, at the age of 81.
Devoted husband for 60 years of Sandra Lee (Walker), father of Gerald W. Barrett Jr., Kelly (Jamie) Taylor and infant daughter Machiel, who preceded him in death; the best Poppy of his grandchildren, triplets Quin, Sydney and Danielle Taylor; brother of Richard (Dick) and brother-in-law of Gloria, uncle, great-uncle and great-great-uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was born May 21, 1941, to Stella (Marre) and Arthur Barrett, in St. Louis, MO. He was close to his maternal uncles, especially Harry and Johnny. He graduated from McBride High School in 1959. Jerry worked for Hartman-Walsh Painting Company and was a proud member of the Teamsters Union. Retiring in 2003 after over 30 years, he always maintained a strong work ethic. He played on many soccer and softball teams over the years and was inducted into the St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame in 1994. He was an animal lover and food lover and could be found outside barbequing on almost any nice day. He loved tinkering on his cars and piddling in his yard, feeding the birds and wild animals. One of his favorite hobbies was searching for the best weekly grocery deals around town. He also cherished spending time with his grandchildren (including his grand dog Mollie and grand cat Macy) and having coffee with his daughter and son-in-law on Sunday mornings. He was a dedicated caregiver for the last 6 years to his wife and stubbornly refused any offers of help. He was a happy, simple man who loved his family and had a heart of gold. The first thing he did when he reached Heaven was share an ice-cold Budweiser with his mom.
Jerry requested that no services be held. Private interment Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis. As a service of the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.

Gerry was a my brother in law, a good friend of mine, a great athlete and we played against each other on parish soccer teams. He always made you laugh. We shared many cold bears together and many laughs on trips. He was married to Sandy who was the younger sister to my wife Shirley so we spent many great times together on family occasions. He will always bring a smile to my face when I think of him. Bob Zurmuehlen

Jerry was always clowning around but the memory that sticks with me was his rooster impersonation when we were all camping together. I also remember the towel he always had hanging out of his back pocket.

Dear Sandy, Jerry, and Kelly,
I am very saddened to hear about Mr. B's passing. When I transferred to Lindenwood, you all adopted every other Sunday for dinner and holidays when my family lived in Germany. Whether it was Sunday ribs, Easter at Dick and Gloria's, fried chicken at McDermott's, soccer trips, etc., you all provided me a home away from home.
Jerry Sr. was my adopted Dad and my life was enriched by him and all of you. I am forever grateful that you shared Mr. B with me as he filled a void for me when my family was overseas. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Hug each other and help one another during this time.
Love,
Wilbur
