Gerlean Silver

Gerlean Silver, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026 at Pineview Nursing Home. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Ms. Silver will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. 

Born and raised in Hollister, NC, Gerlean was the daughter of Blake and Geneva (nee Lynch) Silver. At the age of 20, Ms. Silver moved to Philadelphia where she worked and lived for 40 years.  Gerlean enjoyed a long career with Berean Bank working her way up to Branch Manager and retiring after 23 years.  She spent her retirement years as a resident of the Parkside/Brookhaven area. 

Selfless and kind, Gerlean always put others first.  A natural caregiver, she had a knack for taking care of babies, and she loved animals and tending to her plants.  

Ms. Silver was preceded in death by her daughter, Corlis Richardson.  She is survived by her children Marsha Richardson, Fernando Richardson, Christopher Silver, Constance Heredia,Cyra Richardson, and Doris Rios along with nine grandchildren Fernando, Jr. Catina, Joshua, Daniel, Jeremy, Erica, Ray, Evan and Collin.  She is also survived by siblings Lannie Silver, Francis Silver and Cynthia Silver and her beloved dog, Maxwell Smart. 

Friends and family are welcome to attend Swarthmore Friends Meetinghouse, 12 Whittier Place, Swarthmore, PA 19081 on Sunday, January 11th at 2 pm to remember and honor the life of Gerlean.
