Not sure what to say?

I’m glad to have met Grace. Linda, Mark, and family have my sympathy.

My deepest condolences to the Krummes and Calandrinos with the passing of Grace. I have such great memories of the years spent together. Lots of laughs and good times and some crazy moments. She was a very kind and caring person who adored her family and was so proud of them always praising them. She and Mike together were a piece of work! I can hear her.”Mikey”. lol always bugging him. Grace's Obituary

Grace Delores Calandrino (nee Cristallo) was born 100 years ago on August 6, 1925 in Brooklyn New York. She died peacefully on January 22, 2026 in Cincinnati. Grace was a young teenager when her mother died from illness. She and her 3 sisters and 2 brothers grew up caring for each other and their father who was an Italian immigrant from Bari, Italy. Her father supported the family working as an ice man in Brooklyn before the days of refrigerators. The family’s life was challenging but, together, they made their way through the great depression, World War II and the rest of the 20th century.

Grace met Mike Calandrino at a church dance in 1947, and they soon fell in love. Mike had seven brothers and sisters which made for plenty of fun and good food when they all gathered around the table for Sunday dinners at his mother’s house on 22nd street and 4th avenue. Grace and Mike were married for 59 years until Mike’s passing in 2006.

Over the years, Grace had a variety of jobs, but her favorite was sharing her culinary skills working in the cafeteria at Fort Hamilton High School. She loved the kids and they loved her for her friendly and outgoing personality. No one was a stranger for long when Grace was around whether it was on a bus, the beauty parlor, or at the market. Grace had an incredible memory for friend’s and family member's birthdays and would never forget to call and send a card. Grace loved her family especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Grace moved to Cincinnati in 2008 to live with her daughter Linda in Mt. Lookout. Grace is survived by her daughter Linda Krumme (Mark), her son Ben Calandrino (Anne Marie), grandchildren Mark Krumme (Rathyna), Christine Krumme Elzey, Nicholas Calandrino, and Ben Calandrino, great grandchildren, August and Emmanuel, and her sister-in-law Sue Carnevale as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 12:30 PM until Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 PM, all at Our Lord Christ the King Church, 3223 Linwood Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45226. Interment will be held at a later date at The Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY.
