I was blessed to have had Mr. Macdonald as a shop teacher at Parchment Middle School and as a homeroom teacher in 7th grade. I was part of the 7th grade class that gave Mr. Macdonald a retirement party with an "Ape-A-Gram". He was a great teacher and a very patient man. Many fine memories from his class. My condolences to the family.

Sincerely,

I am saddened to hear of Grant Macdonald's passing. Like my friend Don McCreery states, I had Mr. Macdonald for junior high shop classes (1957-1958) at Parchment. He taught me the basics of hand and power tool usage and how to fabricate things. These are skills that I use to this day. I also knew Mr. Macdonald from Scouts and appreciated what he did to help develop character and decency in the youth of our times. Mr. Macdonald attended several of our class reunions and I greatly enjoyed having the opportunity to reminisce with him on those occasions. A fine gentleman. Rest In Peace, Grant Macdonald.

Grant McDonald was my shop teacher for the 1963-thru 1966 period at Parchment High School. He was a great teacher for wood and metal shop. He would let me work on my 1957 ford sometimes after school also. It's sad to see that so many schools don't have a set-up for shop classes anymore. Grant would come to our Class of 66 get-together every year. I'm sure that all the people that attended Parchment High School are saddened about his passing, but we send our thoughts and prayers, and ask GOD to take special care of him. Till We Meet Again Mr. McDonald. Dave Delemme class of 66.

I was unemployed in the late 80's. I was in a funk, not sure what to do next, and trying to figure out how to support my small family. Job leads were slim, and nothing seemed to work.

Then Grant appeared on my doorstep. "C'mon," he said, "I need a crew to help expand the Scout camp."

"But, I've only worked in food service and retail," I replied. "I don't even know which end of a hammer to hold!"

"That's all right. I'll teach you."

That summer spent building the Cub and Webelos expansion of Rota Kiwan together with Jody, Peter, and Paul taught me lessons that have served me through my entire life.

Thank you, Uncle Grant. Rest well.

There are too many memories to share here, from the first hug in 1982 until now. From my twins birth, a cross country trip with toddlers, birthdays, Christmas's, zip lines, driving on Colorado mountain roads, trains, races, stories, so many more and of course a trip to Scotland, where Dad told everyone he was from Clad Donald. What an experience to help Dad pick out his new kilt and accessories in Edinburgh, he was like a kid in a candy store. Of course Dad found the best apple pie in Edinburgh, St. Giles basement, and yes indeed he did ask for a slice of cheese. Whenever I lost Dad on that trip I knew just where to find him, the nearest ice cream shop or bookstore. We also went to a town full of used book stores, we had to buy an extra bag each to take home our purchases! Let's have a Scottish Wake and tell all the stories, I think we'll be there awhile. Thank you Dad for all the good memories and especially for your love. I love you and miss you.

Mr. MacDonald was a wonderful man. He taught all of my siblings, myself and taught the fine art of woodsman ship to my son. He was always a delight to listen and learn from every day.

So blessed to have had you as my Father in Law. Never imagined my shop teacher would become my Father in Law, my family and my friend. This man was a special blend. Like none I have ever encountered. He made our lives better for knowing him.
He is loved and will be missed by so so many!!
He lived an amazing life. He is at rest now.
RIP Dad

Like many others from PPS, I was fortunate to have Mr. Macdonald for many shop classes. He was kind, patient and sharing of knowledge. Imagine my surprise when he shows up at my door many years later asking if I could fix his canoe. Of course I could, he was the person who taught me the basic skills that I learned more from. RIP Mr. Macdonald.
