Harvey Lee Hogamier died peacefully at his home in Hagerstown, Maryland surrounded by his wife and son on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at the age of 67.
Harvey is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rebecca (Racey-Ford) Hogamier; son, Harvey Adam Hogamier; his devoted dogs Fenway Park and Peppermint B; sister, Nancy A. (Hogamier) Wible of Waynesboro and brother, Gary K. Hogamier and his wife Kathy of Chardon, Ohio; brothers-in-law Glenn D. Ford of Corriganville, Maryland and Timothy M. Racey and his wife Melanie of North Tonawanda, New York. He is preceded in death by his father, Harvey J. Hogamier and mother, Eileen M. (Freal) Hogamier of Mount Savage, Maryland.
Harvey was born on April 3, 1952 in Frostburg, Maryland. He graduated from Mount Savage High School class of 1970. He attended Allegany Community College. Harvey began working for Tristate Electrical Supply Company in 1972. He worked in the electrical distribution business for 47 years. He retired from Capital Electric on April 30, 2019. .
Harvey was a Past Master (1994 & 1995), Friendship Lodge #84 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Past High Priest, Ithiel Royal Arch Chapter #27, Past Thrice Illustrious Master, Palestine Council # 16 Royal and Select Masters of Maryland, St. Bernard Commandery #9 Knights Templar and the Valley of Orient of Maryland Scottish Rite. He received his Scottish Rite 32nd degree in1980, KCCH (Red Cap) in 1991, and was coroneted 33rd degree (White Cap) in 2001. He served as the team captain of the Scottish Rite Hagerstown 4th degree team and the committee chairman for the Scottish Rite Hagerstown Ladies Night. He was a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge #378. He was a past member of the Ali Ghan Shrine, Hagerstown Shrine, Tall Cedars and the Sayara Unit. He was an active and dedicated member of the Saint John’s Episcopal Church, serving as lector, chalicist, intercessor and lay eucharistic minister. He served as junior warden for Saint John’s Vestry and Coordinator for the Saint John’s Cold Weather Shelter committee. Harvey enjoyed all genres of music, collecting and playing a variety of string instruments and flying in with his friend Kent in the1941 Stearman Biplane.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland. Followed by a Masonic service beginning at 7:00 p.m. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint John’s Episcopal Church, 102 Prospect Street, Hagerstown, Maryland, with a reception to follow at Trimble Hall. The Reverend Father Todd Young will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Harvey’s life.
