Helen Elizabeth Hammond Grossheim, 92, of Lexington, AL passed away Monday, February 2, 2026 surrounded by her family and friends.
Helen was a hard-working, caring woman who was truly the heart and soul of her family. She never stopped giving of herself and was always busy helping others, whether it was at home, at the senior center, or wherever she was needed. She had a servant’s heart and found joy in staying active, working with her hands, and caring for those around her.
Helen loved attending her “little country church,” Hickory Flat Freewill Baptist Church, where her faith guided the way she lived her life. She was known for her patience, kindness, and quiet strength. To know Helen was to know someone who lived every day striving to be like Jesus.
While our hearts are broken, we find peace and comfort in knowing she is now in the arms of the Lord, exactly where she always wanted to be.
Helen is survived by her sons, Alan (Pat) Grossheim and Randy (Tonya) Grossheim; her grandchildren, Johnny Grossheim, Travis (Brooke) Grossheim, and Amber (Jason) Myrick; and her great-grandchildren, Makenzie Harlan, Brodie Slate, Morgan Myrick, Braxton, Brylee, Matti Shook, and Sadie Grossheim.
Preceded in death by her parents, Luther C. and Irene Hammond. Her husband Carl Grossheim.
Services will be at Loretto Memorial Chapel Thursday, February 5, 2026 with Bro. Roger Troope officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with the service at 1:00. Burial will be at Hickory Flat Freewill Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Braxton Shook, Johnny and Travis Grossheim, David Goodwin, Jason Myrick and Debbie Sargent.
Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren and Puppy Davis.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her loving caregiver, Tammy Cabler and all of Affinity Hospice for their loving care and support.
Helen will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her strong work ethic, loving heart, and unwavering faith.

Alan, Randy and family, I always loved being in Helen’s presence; she was such a pleasant person. It was always fun to visit aunt Susie and uncle Luke when she was there, too. May God comfort you now and in the days to come.

All the family is in my thoughts and prayers. I loved Helen and enjoyed visiting with her. She would occasionally stop by my house on her way to her senior citizen center friend's house. We always had a good visit with lots of laughs.

I remember going to her house with my mom as a kid. She was a great woman who was loved by many. Sweet soul, rest in piece. God bless!
