Helen McTeigue Obituary

Helen McTeigue of Petaluma, CA, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 9, 2025. She was 100.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Cecelia (Donahue) Haines. She graduated in the Class of 1943 from J. W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School, Philadelphia, PA.

Helen worked for a few years as a secretary before marrying and becoming a full-time homemaker, raising six children with her husband, Patrick McTeigue, Sr. She began working outside the home again in the 1960s. She worked at Amchem, Ambler, PA, for many years.

In 1981, Helen moved to California to be near her daughter and sister. She continued with her career and enjoyed creating a new life for herself in California.

Helen made friends wherever she went. She had a genuine interest in getting to know people, learning about their lives. She had deep compassion for the suffering of others, offering help in any way she could.

Helen had many interests. An avid reader, she was a regular at our local library. She was a history buff, particularly American history. She also loved biographies. She loved watching movies on Netflix. Playing cards and other games was a favorite pastime.

She is survived by her children, Patrick McTeigue, Jr. of Peachtree City, GA, Kathleen McTeigue of Petaluma, CA, Martin McTeigue and his wife Gayle of Ocala, FL, Daniel McTeigue of North Wales, PA; grandchildren, Dawn Schwartz and her husband Daniel, Christina McTeigue, Daniel McTeigue and his wife Jessica, Colleen Kinndard; great grandchildren, Lore Schwartz, Vienna Schwartz, Linden Schwartz, Ronan McTeigue, Reece Kinnard, Lane Kinnard. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Cecelia Garland, Marie Yannaccone, Therese McTeigue and brother, Harry Haines, husband Patrick McTeigue, Sr. and two sons, Kenneth McTeigue and Hugh McTeigue.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of your mother, Kathleen. I loved receiving mail from your Mum, she always made it so personal and always wrote so lovingly about her children. Even though we never meet, her kindness and warmth left a lasting impression on me.
She was also my kids first pen pal. I loved the fact they got an opportunity to send and receive post, just like I did when I was a child.

Daniel and Laura looked so forward to receiving her mail. She always sent beautiful cards, stickers, articles and pictures that they could colour.
I understand that words can't make the pain go away, but please know she was deeply loved and admired.
May the memories you shared together bring you comfort.

I hope you have reunited with Terri

I am so blessed and honored to have been Helen's caregiver this last year. She is one of the sweetest and most delightful humans I've ever known! We had some nice times and lots of laughs. Her spirit soars now, and I feel her angel spirit around me. I love her with all my heart, xo

Helen was one of my Dearest Friends. She brightened my day every time we played Rummikub together. We had a luncheon with Burney one of our Friends house. I was helping her with set up and dishes and what nots. Then Helen was looking at me with such a loving heart. ♥ I asked her what she was thinking about, she said, I reminded of her in the kitchen, the way I worked and helping out. I never forgot that, I was happy to have brought that memory to her that beautiful day. She always had all her faculties and a great mind up to she hit about 99 years old. She’d always talk about her Family to me. She was so proud of each of you. Helen always sent me a Get Well ❤ card or Birthday card,,with her added loving message to me. I’ll miss my Dear Sweet Friend, but I will see her someday in her Heavenly Home. Love ❤ you, Debby
