Helen M. (Bajdek) Ponti, 65 of Merrimack, NH died Saturday October 19, 2024 from lung cancer at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Chelsea, MA on November 26, 1958, a daughter of Rosemary M. (Gandolfo) Bajdek and late Stephen F. Bajdek. Helen was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Merrimack, NH.
Helen was an incredible mother, known for her talent, resilience, and drive. She met the love of her life, her late husband Maurice “Rick” A. Ponti, Jr., on a blind date. After their honeymoon in Hawaii, they then embarked on a life of adventure, traveling the world together due to Rick’s career as a geologist. Helen often reminisced about their trips to Kuwait, Egypt, Italy, Switzerland, and many other places both abroad and across the United States.
When they began their family, they established the tradition of visiting the University of Maine in Orono, where Rick earned his engineering degree. As their children grew, family day trips became a cherished tradition, with "mystery rides" to Vermont, Maine, and various stops along the way. Helen especially enjoyed antique shopping and weekend craft store visits with her family. She was highly creative, pouring her talent into floral arrangements, crocheted blankets, wooden dolls, and the beloved "time-out dolls." Recently, she found joy in making decorative wreaths, passing her crafting skills on to her daughters
Helen will be forever loved and remembered by her three children, Danielle Ponti, Nicole Ponti, and Michael Ponti and his wife Lauren; her six cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Jayden, Aryanna, Giovanni, Eliana, Luca; her two brothers, Stephen and Michael Bajdek; her sister Stephanie Russo and brother-in-law John Russo, and all of her nieces and nephews as well as her life-long friends.
Calling hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack on Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 4 – 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery, W. Hollis Street in Nashua.

I never met Helen in person She was part of the wreathing/creating community and would always join my live on Facebook as well as other creators. Helen would always encourage me in whatever I was doing.
I would send her cute little notes almost everyday. My prayers are with the family and friends. Fly high my dear friend.

While we did not know Helen very closely, we came to know her through her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Lauren, and their gatherings from high school to birthdays, bridal shower, wedding celebration, baby showers & babies! She was a hoot and friendly to us always making it a point to talk with us at events. Rest in peace Helen and much love to rest of the Ponti family!

My cousin Helen’s visits to our house with Rick, (And those visits with or without Stephanie and Johnny too!) were always some of the coolest memories of my weekends growing up. Their stories and friendship, even with me just being a littler kid, turned ordinary days into great, and sometimes hilarious memories. I always looked forward to those visits because of the stories I heard, and the things I learned that stayed with me long after they left. Helen rolling her eyes as Rick talked about rocks is burned into my brain forever!
What has always touched me most was the way Helen and her kids showed such kindness to my mother. Their care and generosity mean the world to her—and to me. Helen had a special way of making people feel loved and valued, and her heart was as big as her smile. She definitely passed that on to Michael, Nicole and Danielle and i'll always be grateful for those memories and what she brought into not only my life, but to Denise, Heather and Sam's as well. I hope you rest well.

I loved growing up with you around. I'll always remember how you let me dance in your high heels, sleepovers in Stoneham,"steak- umm" subs for supper, shopping shopping and more shopping, and our week in the woods of Maine adventure.
I'll miss your laugh and hearing about you and Nichole's adventures. I know your smiling down upon us, miss you.
