Henry Testo Jr. Obituary

SEYMOUR, CT: Henry G. Testo, age 88, a resident of Seymour for sixty-two years, peacefully entered eternal rest on December 11, 2025, at Griffin Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of sixty-five years to Maureen (George) Testo. Henry (Sonny) was born in Derby, CT on March 4, 1937, son of the late Henry G. Testo Sr. and Rosalie (Pietropaolo) Testo. He was a proud, first-generation Italian-American having a strong connection to Italian traditions that he shared with his loved ones.

He was raised in Derby and graduated from Derby High School where he played football. In 1954, at just 17 years old, he enlisted in the United States Airforce. Henry was stationed at Chantue Air Force Base in Illinois where he studied electrical fuel controllers for the F-86 Sabre fighter jet. He was transferred to Ramstein Air Base in Germany and learned to speak German before serving in Libya. He would often reminisce about his time in the Air Force and Germany and loved to speak about the Black Forest and Rhine River. He was honorably discharged in 1962.

He met his beloved wife Maureen at the former iconic Rocco’s Apizza in Ansonia. It was love at first sight and they married on November 5, 1960. He was a machine shop foreman for Pratt & Whitney for over thirty years, until his retirement in 1992.

Henry had a heart of gold. He loved to cook for his family, especially enjoying making homemade pizza with his grandchildren. He was a master carpenter with a problem-solving mind and the skill to fix just about anything. Henry had a green thumb with a passion for gardening, taking great pride in his tomato plants and fig trees. He was a member of the American Legion Emil Senger Post 10 in Seymour and was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia.

The family would like to extend the warmest of thanks to the doctors, nurses, and other medical staff at Griffin Hospital 1 North and ICU as well as the VA Connecticut Health Care System for their gentle and meticulous care of such a special man.

In addition to his wife Maureen, he leaves; daughters, Roselinda Cavallaro (Karl Brumbaum) of Prospect and Christine S. Cooper (Daniel) of Seymour, grandchildren, Michael Cavallaro (Garrett Cherry), Samantha Rogers (Sean), David Cooper, and Rachael Costa (Nicholas), great-grandsons, Grayson Daniel Rogers and Beau Henry Rogers, numerous nieces and nephews, including Antonia Platt, Paula Testo, and Carl Testo, as well as life-long friends, Donna Caridi (late Anthony “Tony”) and Dominic and Patricia Valentino, and many cousins. He was predeceased by brothers, Gabriel Testo, Carlo Testo, John Testo, and Carmen Joseph Testo and sisters, Mary Radizeski, Josephine Testo, and infant sister, Priscilla Testo.

Visiting hours will take place on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday, December 19, 2025, all are invited to attend Henry’s funeral by meeting directly at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial.
