It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hugh Francis Donohue, who died peacefully on September 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 16, 1956, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Francis James Donohue and Patricia Edwards, Hugh lived a life defined by generosity, love, and unshakable strength. With a heart of gold, Hugh was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He was deeply devoted to his family and loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandson more than life itself.
Hugh was a proud member of the Local 40 Ironworkers Union for over 35 years, where he not only dedicated himself to his trade but also shared his skills with loved ones, often found ironworking side-by-side with his family. His work ethic and passion left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was a longtime member of a 12-step fellowship, where he offered strength, hope, and guidance to many over the years—another testament to his generous spirit.
Hugh is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved brother Eugene Donohue, and sister Patrice Donohue.
He is survived by his spouse, Alice Donohue; his loving children: Frank “The Tank” Donohue, Jaime Donohue-Brennan (Shawn Brennan), and Wendy Williams (John Williams); his cherished grandchildren: granddaughters Sammarie, Jacklynn, and Nikolette Brennan, Hailley Williams, and grandson Johnathan Williams; his treasured great-grandson and pride and joy, Oliver Patrick Brennan; his brother Barry Donohue; nephews Michael and Matthew Pickman; and many more family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
