Ida May King Sheppeck, born on April 1, 1932, in Chester County, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, in Lynchburg, Virginia. She lived a full and vibrant life, marked by her dedication to her family and her many interests that brought joy to her days.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mildred Snyder King; her husband, Matthew Stanley Sheppeck and twelve siblings.
Matt & Ida retired to Bedford, VA in 1990 where they enjoyed the peaceful surroundings of the Virginia mountains. Ida enjoyed taking care of their property by cutting the yard, visiting her brother's horse farm and helping with the barn work, horses and dogs. Ida also enjoyed baking raisin cakes, lemon meringue pies, apple pies and cookies every holiday season for her family and friends. Some of her other favorite pastimes were playing canasta, painting ceramics (particularly old-world Santas), and putting puzzles together—a leisurely activity she cherished, as it often included time spent with her brother.
Above all else, Ida’s proudest accomplishment was her family. She was a devoted matriarch whose love and support shaped the lives of those around her. Her legacy will undoubtedly live on through the memories she created and shared with her loved ones.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Walker, Bonnie Wallace, John Pusey and wife, Roseanne, Kathryn Dunn and husband, Stephen, Matthew Sheppeck, Jr. and wife, Margaret, and Richard Sheppeck and fiancé, Patty; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren; brother, William “Bill” King; sister-in-law, Anneliesa King and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
