IRENE HILINSKI

JANUARY 8, 1926 - JUNE 21, 2024

Irene Hilinski was born on January 8, 1926 and died peacefully on June 21, 2024. Irene’s family was blessed to have her for 98 wonderful years.  She was married to her beloved husband Frank for 66 years before he was welcomed home to heaven. 

Irene is survived by her children Denise Green (Bill), Karen Holt (Bill) and David (Denise). Irene was a loving aunt to Robert and Thomas Zera (Denise).  She was the proud and loving grandmom to her 7 grandchildren: Heather, Billy (Tracy), Rachel (Greg), John-Paul, Matthew, Michael and Stephanie. She was Babci to her six great grandchildren Olivia, Delaney, Emily, Andrew, Brooklyn and Noah.

Irene was a proud graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School.  She enjoyed looking through her yearbook and sharing memories of her high school days.

When her children were young, Irene loved road-tripping as a family. Highlights included a trip to Canada to watch her dear brother Frank marry Rolande, summer days at Presidential Lakes in NJ, and multiple trips to Florida with her young family.

When her husband Frank retired, they continued their road trips together exploring 49 of the 50 states.  Every winter, they would drive to Florida. This tradition resulted in wonderful friendships made along the way. Irene could tell you the best restaurant, the best meal and the best town to visit along the way. Her memory was infallible.

Irene was a loving, generous and hands-on grandmom.  It was her privilege to celebrate and witness all of her grandchildren’s milestones, from graduations to weddings to the birth of her great grandchildren. In her later years, her greatest joy was spending time with her great grandchildren.  She welcomed them in her arms or on her lap in her wheelchair.   She lit up every time she saw them.  She loved listening to their stories and jokes and got a kick out of them just being kids.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Irene's viewing Thursday June 27,2024 10:00am to 11:00am at the EDWARD J. PETNER FUNERAL HOME 6421 Frankford Ave. Phila. PA, 19135. Christian Burial Service 11:00am. Interment Our Lady of Grace Cemetery
