Isaac's Obituary

Isaac Alfred (Ike) Boggs, 71, of Gandeeville, WV, won his courageous seven year battle with cancer on November 13, 2025.

He was born March 13, 1954, a son of the late Perry Stanton and Amy Warner Boggs.

In addition to his parents, Ike was preceded in death by six brothers, Edrid, Alonzo, Art, Tom, Tim and David; one sister Maxine Goad; five infant siblings.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his high school sweetheart and wife of 49 years, Cindy Dawson Boggs; two daughters, Crystal Lynn and Angela Beth (Tom) Smith, both of Gandeeville; four grandsons, Isaac (Haleigh) Barnett of Spencer, Jordan (Melana) Barnett, Blake and Dawson Smith all of Gandeeville, WV; four great grandchildren, Alecia, Paisley, Ardashia, and David; one brother, John “Marty” (Rita) Boggs of Elliston, VA and Eileen Pillow of Blacksburg, VA; several nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

Ike was a Christian and a member of the Spencer Church of Christ.

He enjoyed fishing, working with his brother on the farm, helping other people, bird watching, puzzles, westerns, and watching biblical teachings on tv. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and especially his great grandchildren.

Ike was a rig hand for thirteen years until his life altering accident. Unable to return to the rig, he worked several different jobs, including a temporary mail route which he and Cindy worked together for three years. During this time, Ike began working as a custodian for the Roane County B.O.E. Whatever the position he held, Ike always gave his best. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, courage, and compassion that will live on in all of us.

At this time, our family would like to extend thanks to all who helped us in any way during this journey, the love, compassion, and prayers have lifted us up in our most difficult moments. Very special thanks to Jerry Nichols (Ike’s brother in Christ) who dedicated the last two weeks in loving care for Ike. Also, the nurses from hospice were amazing, especially Jess Miller, whose smile always brightened Ike’s days.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025, at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with John Keith officiating. Burial will be in Whited Cemetery, Gandeeville.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
