Jacqueline "Alex" Hand Obituary
Jacqueline Alexandria “Alex” Hand, age 29, of McDonough, Georgia, ended her struggle with Rasmussen’s Encephalitis (RE) and entered her eternal home on September 5, 2021.
She is survived by her parents Mitch and Jackie Hand, brother Cade Hand, grandmother Ibbie Hand, and fiancé Ethan Gatlin as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandfather Cecil Hand of McDonough, grandfather Raymon McLendon, and grandmother Aurelia McLendon, both of Brundidge, Alabama.
A graduate of Union Grove High School, Alex continued her gift of art in a career of graphic design. Her love of music and art was evident throughout her life in her participation and established friendships within UGHS band and Salem Baptist Church. Without a doubt, Alex would claim her favorite place to be Disney World; those who know her would chuckle and agree. Her friends and family celebrate the many memories of her joy and her wit.
In 2018, Alex contracted an exceptionally rare neurological disease of which little is known. Her journey through numerous medical appointments and various treatments at Emory and Mayo demonstrated the true strength of Alex, and we, as her parents, want this strength to be her witness.
Alex’s celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Alex to one of the following charities:

Our grandson is a 2024 graduate of Union Grove High School and during this morning’s Grandparents ‘ Breakfast Alex’s scholarship was presented. I looked her up and was saddened to learn of not only her passing but how. Thank you for continuing her legacy. Parents and grandparents continue to be so important in the lives of our younger generations.
