Jacqueline Hugghins Obituary

Alto – Funeral services for Jacqueline Louise Hugghins, 93, of Alto will be Monday, May 7th, at 2 PM at the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home in Alto with Rev. Jim Bob Lindsey officiating. Burial will be at the Lynches Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Hugghins died Friday, May 4th, in Alto. She was born March 14, 1925 in Mason City, Iowa to Orville M. and Julia Cook Baugh. She grew up in Mason City, the oldest of 9 children. The family later moved to Rochester, Minnesota where she attended high school and worked at the Mayo Clinic as a teenager. She later lived in Chicago and performed as a singer on a 30 minute radio program. Jacqueline married her husband Tommie Hugghins, in 1945, while both were working for Consolidated Airplane Manufacturing during WW II. They eventually moved to Alto where they raised their 7 children on their dairy and poultry farm. She and Tommie moved to Tyler in 1973 where Jacqueline worked at Montgomery Ward for several years. She had a love for art and was a very talented painter. She had lived in Alto for the last 5 years. Mrs Hugghins was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tommie Hugghins, son Jim Bob Hugghins, daughter Pamela Derry, sister Wanda Hurlbut and brothers Sammy, Willard and Garwin Baugh. She is survived by sons Tommie Jack Hugghins (Linda) of Waco, John Moore Hugghins (Debbie) of Troup and Joe Tim Hugghins (Debbie) of Bryan, daughters Jan Adams (Jerry) of Troup and Joni Hager (Gary) of Alto, brother Gale Baugh (Peggy) of Tyler, sisters Joellen Voitle (Anton) of Round Top, Dorothea Touchton of Diboll and Ruthie Marie Baugh of New Braunfels as well as 23 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Brian Hugghins, Brandon Hugghins, Timothy Hugghins, Justin Adams, Colton Hager and Mark Baugh. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Hassell, Clark Baugh and Ted Hugghins. Visitation will be Sunday, May 6th, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

We thank God for the life of Jackie. God's peace and love as you grieve. I am her cousin, the daughter of A.E. ("Dub") Cook, her mother's brother, who died years ago (1950) Even though time and distance separated us, I counted it a blessing to be Jackie's cousin.
