MOCK-Mr. James E. "Jim" Mock, Jr., age 74, of Aiken, S.C., loving husband of Linda Parrott Mock and son of the late James E. Mock, Sr. and the late Alice Burns Mock, entered into eternal rest at his residence on Saturday morning, October 17, 2015. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tiffany (Austin) Barnette of Summerville, S.C.; a son, Chris Mock of Aiken, S.C.; sisters, Juan Alice (John) Strong of New Ellenton, S.C., Jo Nell (Charles) Roberts of Pitman, New Jersey and Joy (Don) Parry of Aiken, S.C.; a brother, Johnny (Frances) Mock of Graniteville, S.C.; grandchildren, Leah (Joseph) Thomas, Bethany Mock and Stephen Mock; great grandchildren, Jonah Levi and Landry Stacia Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Coursey Mock and a daughter-in-law, Stacia Leigh Mock. He was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. He was a member of Fellowship of Truth Baptist Church in Graniteville, S.C. He was a retired Mechanical Engineer from Savannah River Site. He was President of the Graniteville Leisure Club, a former member of the Optimist Club, the Rotary Club. He was also a member of the US Marine Reserves. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. Next to his family, came his love for playing golf, and he was a diehard Gamecock Fan; infact, his family gave him the title of Armchair Coach. He and his wife, Linda, really enjoyed traveling to various points of interest, whether it be on land or the ocean. A man of his character shall be greatly missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched during the 74 precious years that God granted him on this earth. There is a consolation in knowing that death is not the end, as he has just made that great transition to his new Heavenly Home, where all is peace and joy in that land of endless tomorrows. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Thursday evening, October 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A service, celebrating his life, will be held at Christian Heritage Church in Graniteville, S.C. on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jamie Bodiford and Rev. Brancie Stephens officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville, S.C. The Pallbearers will be nephews, John Strong, Wayne Brown, James Williams, Chad Parrott, Wes Barton and Ken Cole. Memorials may be made to Fellowship of Truth Baptist Church, Bettis Academy Rd., Graniteville, S.C. 29829.
