Funeral services for Mr. James “Jimmy” Lofton will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Burial will follow at Belmont Cemetery in Belmont, LA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James Dudley Lofton and Helen Abbott Lofton; his daughter Veronica Marie Lofton; and two brothers, John Hugh Lofton and Gordon Barry Lofton.
Jimmy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had an amazing sense of humor and always had a comeback for anything. He married Bea when he was 20 and she was 16. Everyone said it would not last, but he proved them wrong. He was in construction for years, but when his first granddaughter was born, he quit his job to take care of her and later her brother, so they wouldn’t have to go to daycare. He was a great friend as well as father, and grandfather. He loved God, his church, and his family. He had a great testimony because the Lord picked him up and put him on the right track and held none of his past against him. He dearly loved his wife and always told her “I love you more.”
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Beatrice Strebeck Lofton; sons, James B. Lofton, Jr. and spouse Allison of Natchitoches, Michael C. Lofton and spouse Jennifer of Bossier City; daughter Monica Lofton Chumley and spouse Chuck of Natchitoches; brothers David Lofton and spouse Judy of San Francisco, CA, Gary Lofton and spouse Janet of Greenwood, LA; sisters Catherine Culpepper and spouse George of Robeline, LA, and Nona Jakabffy of Lake Charles, LA; and grandchildren, Tyler, Veronica, and Jacob Chumley, Aidan, Gavin, Riley, and Patrick Lofton, and Journey and Addison Lofton.
Special thanks to Dr. Chris Ingram, Dr. John Harris and Harbor Hospice of Alexandria, and our Friendship Church family.

Bea and Jimmy were so loving and kind to me as a kid in Natchitoches. He always had a smile and was kind and really fun to be around! May God comfort you all during this time. It was so good to see Monica at my dad's funeral. Love, Kevin and Angela Larpenter
