Janet Cruz Obituary

Janet Elizabeth Cruz
November 27, 1940 – January 15, 2026

Janet Elizabeth Cruz, born Janet Elizabeth LePori, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 15, 2026. She was born on November 27, 1940, in Wealder, Texas, to Mary Lee and Francis LePori, and was raised in Gonzales, Texas as part of a large and loving family of nine children.

Janet was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a God-fearing woman whose life was defined by unwavering kindness, compassion, and a steadfast belief in God and the goodness of others. A devoted provider and caretaker, Janet always ensured there was light at the end of the tunnel, no matter the circumstances.

She found great joy in baking, sewing, and spending meaningful time with her family. Janet’s warmth shone brightest in her role as a grandmother—playing with her grandchildren (basketball and head stands included), sharing laughter, and gathering everyone around the table for countless meals, especially her famous enchiladas and carrot cake, which became a treasured family tradition. Her consideration, generosity, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. Cruz Jr.; her daughter, Dana Cruz; her sister, Margaret LePori; and her brothers Douglas, Lamar, Larue, and Ernest LePori.

She is survived by her children: sons, William Cruz and Brian Cruz; daughter, Stefanie Cruz, daughter and son in law, Jessica Cruz and Floyd Lancaster. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Landon Cruz; Dante, Aryck, and Trevin Singletary; Shellby Webb; Makenzie Cruz; and Preston Connally, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren.

Janet is also survived by her siblings, Mary Francis Johnson, Michael LePori, and Willis LePori.

Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit, faith, and the light she brought into the lives of others will remain forever.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 24, 2026, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm at the chapel of Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home, 189 N. Seguin Ave. New Braunfels, Texas 78130.

Burial will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 9:30 am at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
