Janette M. Shifflet

Age 89, of Hammond, IN passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (late, Ernie) Burgess and Pamela (Robert Dyke) Shifflet; granddaughter, Dawn Maldonado; grandsons, Robert (Megan) Dyke and Phillip (Kristen) Dyke; great-grandchildren: Joseph Tyler Burgess, Christian Maldonado, Brooklyn Faith Dyke, Charlotte MacKenzie Dyke, Sadie Grace Dyke, Everett Michael Dyke, Cheyenne Lee Dyke, Maisie Kaye Louise Dyke, and Kinsley Noelle Dyke. 

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Francis (Duke) Shifflet; son, Michael Shifflet.

Janette loved her flowers and maintaining her yard. Affectionately called everyone “yard birds.” Even if it were to snow the next day, she would call someone to ensure the lawn was mowed. She took pride in all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never missed an event. Her love was strong and her voice was loud, both heard from a mile away. Janette’s uwavering love for God was the foundation of her life. She lived each day with faith, grace, and kindness. Though she will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that she is now at home in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

A Graveside Service will be held on a future date at Memory Lane Cemetery, 6305 Lincoln Hwy, Crown Point, IN 46307. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Providence Hospice & Catholic Charities
