Janice Anglin Obituary

Janice Elaine Anglin (Humphrey) passed peacefully surrounded by her family at Shand’s Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at the age of 66. She died unexpectedly from complications of a liver transplant.

Janice is survived by her husband, Dwight Anglin; brothers Mike (Lorraine) Humphrey and Bill (Dot) Humphrey; children Amy (Chuck) Johnson, Jennifer Bickelman, Wendy (Gary) Silvernell, Becky Anglin, and Casey Anglin; grandchildren Anderlyn (Travis) Johnson, Chani Cuppett, Alana (Matthew) Burton, Jessica Mullinax, Cole Bickelman, Ariel Bickelman, Hunter Johnson, Trey Silvernell, and Andrew Jay; and great-grandchildren Sadie, Ava Claire, Channing, and Xavier.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Evelyn Humphrey, and sister Docia Rose Humphrey.

Janice was born on July 30, 1951, in Madison, Florida, to Melvin and Evelyn Humphrey. She married her husband, Dwight, in 1991 in Panama City, Florida. Over a period of 22 years, she raised 5 children and set about teaching them compassion, practicality, and how to enjoy a good cup of coffee.

Janice loved nothing more than to brag about her children. She was the family seamstress, best cook ever , and the “glue” that held everyone together. Her quick wit, incredible work ethic and perpetual optimism made her a joy to be around during the good and hard times. Her favorite advice was to tell us to “Take a nap and get some rest”. Janice enjoyed spending time with her family, a good game of scrabble, cooking and more recently, exercise and fitness. Her children proudly remember her as loving and selfless, with a great sense of humor and a steadfast shoulder to lean on.

Her grandchildren remember her as a wonderful “Mimi” who was always ready to give advice, listen to stories, or hunt Easter eggs with.
She worked for the Florida Department of Agriculture for over 30 years as a Food Safety Inspector.

A graveside service will be held on April 3, 2018, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Madison, Florida officiated by Pastor Jackie Watts. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 1, 2018 from 6PM to 8PM, at Burns Funeral Home of Madison. May God surround you with his loving grace during this time of sorrow. Janice was a great friend. We went to school with her and she was a sweet loving person. She always was ready to help you through the bad times and laugh with you during the good.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know what it is like to undergo a liver transplant as I had mine in 2006 Janice and I had several classes together in high school. She was such a sweet person. We just know that God has a different plan for her. May God Bless all of you

When I think of my friend and "sister" Janice, I think of roses. Of course, one may immediately think of beautiful long stemmed red roses. Even the sweet pink rosebuds come to mind. The one that reminds me of Janice the most is a beautiful yellow rose with a little bit of pink on the edge of the petals. It's just too pretty to describe. The name of this rose is the Peace Rose. My mother had one when we were growing up and Janice and I both loved it. It smelled heavenly. I haven't thought about it in years until I was trying to think of something to convey what my beautiful friend means to me. Janice always had a quiet presence and didn't want to draw any attention to herself. She didn't have to. She was a beautiful Peace Rose. She quietly stood out in a crowd. While everyone else was scurrying around trying to get things done she seemed to effortlessly get the same things done and then some. She wasn't a wildflower popping up everywhere she was a beautiful rose, taking care of whatever needed to be done with no extra fanfare. She didn't seem to need accolades or praise. She was a rose. She added a touch of beauty and grace even when doing the dirtiest chores. She just did. I never knew how she did it. She was our Peace Rose.
